Subdivisions of Greece | Υποδιαιρέσεις Ελλάδα

The Eurobilltracker website is recently updated and has a new feature. Countries will be divided in subdivisions.
First we want to complete the countries where the euro is the currency.

For Greece we would like to make the following subdivisions:
13 Peripheries
54 Perfectures

If someone would like to comment on this subdivision please let us know and reply here.

I also got a PM from a greek user who said there are only 51 prefectures. He is right, but there is one prefecture (Attica) which itself contains four prefectures (including Athens). This is a little confusing and I would like to know more about this and how the Greek feel about this issue.
Would it be better to just forget those four prefectures and just use Attica or should I include the prefectures Athens, East Attica, Piraeus and West Attica?

Ahh now I see my mistake.......
On a map there are all drawn but the perifery Attica has prefectures so small in size they are not drawn. There the perifery Attica is named and below the map there is a explanation which prefectures are included in Attica.

So there are 54 prefectures.

I was checking this info as well...
In the NIG we have 13 regions and 55 prefectures!

On that forementioned map there is a legend where 51 locations are named.
50 Prefectures and 1 Peripherie (Attica) which contains 4 prefectures. Those are named below the list of 51.

Plus there is the Autonomous Monastic State of the Holy Mountain. This Mount Athos is not included in the peripheries and is the 55th region of Greece.

exactly, the proble is to find out the postal codes for the 4 peripheries of Attika, as in Wikipedia it gives to the cities componing each periphery the postal code as 123xx, in Wikipedia it don't even give any clue.
On the Greek Post website it ask for the periphery and then only for the street and not the name of the town, so you need to know at least one street for each postal code for each town of each periphery....
I will ask to my greek friend if she has an idea how to recover this, for now I would recommend to use the 51 + Mount Athos peripheries as the NIG is arranged!!

Thanks for the comments but I already completed Greece this afternoon with the help of your NIG-files.
The rest was done manually.

Greece will be activated this evening.

It would be nice if some Greek people or people from elsewhere take a look at my work. I am sure there will be some small things that should be taken care of.
The names of the subdivisions are possibly not correct. It is hard to find a good Romanized translation of the Greek names.

Τhe prefectures have been replaced by the "Περιφερειακή Ενότητα" (Periphery Module) since this summer. The number of Peripheries (+ Agio Oros) remains. The Periphery Modules are 70+.
Although the new law was voted this summer, the new divisions will go in effect at the November Munical Elections.

all the information is presented at http://www.ypes.gr/el/Regions/programma/. Unfortunately the english section of the web site has not been updated. The Perifery modules correspond to the old Nomoi with the following exceptions:

Ionian Islands Region:
New Region: Ithaki (from Kefalonia)

Attika Region:
New Regions: Central Athens Section, Southern Athens Section, Northern Athens Section, Western Athens Section (rename of older Nomos), Eastern Athens Section (rename of older nomos), Pireas, Islands

Northern Aegean:
New Regions: Limnos (from Lesvos), Ikaria (from Samos)

Southern Aegean: (total reorganization)
New Regions: Kos, Karpathos, Kalimnos, Rhodos, Siros, kea-Kithnos, Milos, Paros, Naxos, Tinos, Mikonos, Andros, Thira

As a part of the 2011 Kallikratis government reform the subdivisions of Greece changed a lot.
In EBT the divisions are now :

level 1 : 13 Peripheries / Περιφέρειες
level 2 : 74 Peripheral units / Περιφερειακών μονάδων
level 3 : 325 Municipalities / Δήμοι

locations on Mount Athos are out side these divisions.

All cityprofiles have (or will have) a name in english and greek.

I also try to get notes from Athens / Αθήνα with postalcodes of municipalities in Greater Athens to these municipalities.
For that reason cities like Galatsi / Γαλάτσι and Marousi / Μαρούσι are now much higher in the Greek rankings.... and Athens / Αθήνα lost some notes.
