WHAT ABOUT THE BILLS OUTSIDE THEIR COUNTRY AND IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY AFTER JUNE 2004?
IN AUSTRIA:
Austria: 8335-6170.37=2164.63
Belgium: (July – June) (formula: (17115*1%/100)-(11158*0.9%/100)=171.15-100.42=70.73
Finland: 136.92-66.95=69.97
France: 479.22-290.11=189.11
Germany: 5750.64-3258.14=2492.50

Portugal: 68.46-44.63=23.83
Spain: 256.72-122.74=133.98
Top three:
1 Germany
2 Austria
3 Italy
Conclusion: The difference between July and June 2004 shows us that there are more German bills entered than Austrian bills. Although the percentage of Austrian bills in Austria shrunk with with 6%, the total amount of Austrian bills entered in July is still higher than in June 2004. The total amount of German bills entered in Austria increased with 5%. Luxembourg isn't in this list because it doesn't print notes.
IN BELGIUM
Austria: 1071.02-771.98=299.04
Belgium: 13237.87-13123.68=114.19
Finland: 257.05-147.04=110
France: 6597.51-5330.34=1267.17
Germany: 10324.68-7462.48=2862.20
Greece: 428.41-183.80=244.60

Portugal: 1285.23-2279.18=-993.95
Spain: 3341.60-2499.75=841.58
Top three:
1 Germany
2 France
3 Spain
Conclusion: In Belgium Germany is just like in Austria the leader. There are almost 4% more German bills in Belgium than in June 2004. The Belgian bills lost 5% but there are still more Belgian bills entered than in June. The Portuguese made a big drop down in Belgium. More than 3% and almost 1000 bills.
IN FINLAND
Austria: 738.57-654.78=83.79
Belgium: 369.28-327.39=41.89
Finland: 43206.34-41644=1562.34
France: 886.28-851.21=35.07
Germany: 7311.84-6023.98=1287.87
Greece: 221.57-196.43=25.14
Ireland: 221.57-196.43=25.14

Portugal: 147.71-130.96=16.76
Spain: 590.86-523.82=67.03
Top three:
1 The Netherlands
2 Finland
3 Germany
Conclusion: The Finnish bills entered in Finland lost some 6%, the Dutch bills gained 5%. But I think that’s more thanks to pooling than thanks to travelling.
IN FRANCE
Austria: 123.12-206.84=-83.72
Belgium: 336.53-357.28=-20.75
Finland: 73.87-37.61=36.26
France: 4087.58-4588.18=-500.59
Germany: 2216.16-2735.98=-519.82
Greece: 32.83-56.41=-23.58
Ireland: 90.29-103.42=-13.13
Italy: 410.4-470.1=-59.70
The Netherlands: 213.41-225.65=-12.24
Portugal: 98.50-122.23=-23.73
Spain: 525.31-498.31=27.00
Top three:
1 Finland
2 Spain
3 The Netherlands
Conclusion:We got these negative amounts, because there are less bills entered in France in July 2004 than in June 2004. We see here that Finland is the leader here in France. There are 36 more Finnish bills entered than in June. It’s good for a country like Spain, which is an EBT-desert, that we can find it here at the second place. When we compare with the top three of Austria, Belgium and Finland we can see that we can’t find Germany in this top three.
IN GERMANY
Austria: 4097.95-2940=1157.95
Belgium: 1365.98-980=385.98
Finland: 227.66-154.74=72.93
France: 2656.08-1856.84=799.24
Germany: 61013.95-40747.41=20266.54
Greece: 379.44-258.79=120.64
Ireland: 303.55-206.32=97.24
Italy: 2428.42-1908.42=519.99
The Netherlands: 1897.20-1341.05=556.15
Portugal: 227.66-154.74=72.93
Spain: 1365.98-980=385.98
Top three:
1 Germany
2 Austria
3 France
Conclusion: Germany is the big leader here with 20266.54 German bills more entered in July than in June. None of the other countries ends up with more than 10%. The Austrian bills are the biggest foreigners here. The French bills came back from a negative total (June – May was negative) and are now on the third place.
IN GREECE
IN GREECE:
Austria: 11.04-10.33=0.71
Belgium: 20.08-26.87=-6.79
Finland: 5.02-15.16=-10.14
France: 23.09-35.82=-12.74
Germany: 64.76-130.22=-65.46
Greece: 203.81-223.34=-19.42
Ireland: 5.02-8.27=-3.25
Italy: 61.24-84.06=-22.81
The Netherlands: 6.02-19.29=-13.27
Portugal: 26.10-28.25=-2.14
Spain: 75.80-108.86=-33.06
Top three:
1 Austria
2 Portugal
3 Ireland
Conclusion: As you can see there is now country, except Austria, which has a positive amount here in Greece. Even Greece itself hasn’t. It’s because there are less bills entered in July than in June. Turn this around and it would be very different ofcourse. Let’s hope August becomes a better month for Greece
IN IRELAND
Austria: 13.38-14.60=-1.23
Belgium: 9.73-14.60=-4.87
Finland: 2.43-6.26=-3.83
France: 24.32-21.90=2.42
Germany: 143.49-109.51=33.97
Greece: 8.51-4.17=4.34
Ireland: 491.26-534.02=-42.75
Italy: 65.66-62.58=3.08
The Netherlands: 126.46-42.76=83.70
Portugal: 147.14-93.87=53.26
Spain: 182.4-137.68=44.72
Top three:
1 The Netherlands
2 Portugal
3 Spain
Conclusion: The Netherlands made the biggest jump forwards. There were 83.70 Dutch more entered than in June 2004. Also Portugal and Spain do very well here in Ireland. Ireland lost the most bills, but it still leads with 491.26 bills entered in July 2004.
IN ITALY
Austria: 341.33-426.09=-84.76
Belgium: 141.24-137.85=3.39
Finland: 58.85-62.66=-3.81

Greece: 200.09-62.66=137.43
Ireland: 694.43-739.39=-44.96
Italy: 6061.55-6779.81=-718.26
The Netherlands: 164.78-137.85=26.93
Portugal: 94.16-75.19=18.97
Spain: 753.28-589.00=164.28
Top three:
1 Spain
2 Greece
3 The Netherlands
Conclusion: Here the biggest jump forwards is for Spain followed by Greece. The Netherlands ends up at the third place. The Italians did enter less bills in July than in June, that’s why there are so many countries with a negative amount in this list.
IN LUXEMBOURG
Austria: 2.88-6.07=-3.19
Belgium: 35.89-23.98=11.92
Finland: 4.98-2.07=2.91
France: 68.12-51.06=17.06
Germany: 117.11-47.95=69.16
Greece: 1.05-2.07=-1.02
Ireland: 1.05-1.58=-0.53
Italy: 4.98-4.00=0.98
The Netherlands: 17.03-6.95=10.07
Portugal: 3.93-0=3.93
Spain: 4.98-2.96=2.02
Top three:
1 Germany
2 France
3 Belgium
Conclusion: Luxembourg doesn’t print notes, that’s why Luxembourg isn’t in this list. Germany made the biggest jump forwards here. There were 69 more German notes entered than in June. France and Belgium are on the second and third place. I think that’s normal because the top three here are also the neighbouring countries from Luxembourg. As you can see there wasn’t any Portuguese note entered in Luxembourg during the month of June 2004.
IN THE NETHERLANDS:
Austria: 2770.47-2627.04=143.43
Belgium: 4447.33-4118.06=329.27
Finland: 291.63-355.00=-63.38

Germany: 27777.57-26128.37=1649.20
Greece: 437.44-426.01=11.44
Ireland: 656.16-710.01=-53.85
Italy: 2843.38-2485.03=358.34
The Netherlands: 25517.45-26909.38=-1391.93
Portugal: 656.16-568.01=88.15
Spain: 2114.30-1988.03=126.27
Top three:
1 Germany
2 France
3 Italy
Conclusion: The Netherlands is the first Euro country where more bills are entered from another country than Dutch bills. In July there are more than 2000 German bills more entered than Dutch bills. There are almost 1400 Dutch bills less entered than in June 2004. France and Italy are on the third place.
IN PORTUGAL:
Austria: 92.97-67.42=25.55
Belgium: 84.52-60.68=23.84
Finland: 33.81-26.97=6.84

The Netherlands: 414.15-370.81=43.34
Portugal: 4640.15-3633.94=1006.21
Spain: 549.38-377.55=171.83
Top three:
1 Portugal
2 Germany
3 Greece
Conclusion: Portugal is the second country where the own Euro notes became first. Due to pooling there are a lot of Dutch and Greece notes in Portugal.
IN SPAIN:
Austria: 214.27-164.36=49.91
Belgium : 57.49-93.92=-36.43
Finland: 36.58-32.87=3.71
France: 857.06-793.62=63.44
Germany: 1034.75-981.46=53.28
Greece: 381.50-309.94=71.56
Ireland: 94.07-79.83=14.24
Italy: 177.68-206.62=-28.94
The Netherlands: 99.29-98.62=0.68
Portugal: 130.65-112.70=17.95
Spain: 2137.43-1817.35=320.08
Top three:
1 Spain
2 Greece
3 France
Conclusion: Spain is the third country where the own Euro notes became first. Here are also a lot of Greek notes in circulation. It’s strange to see that we have very less Belgian notes here. Spain is a popular country for Belgian tourists.

Top three:
1 The Netherlands
2 Finland
3 Germany
Conclusion: The Finnish bills entered in Finland lost some 6%, the Dutch bills gained 5%. But I think that’s more thanks to pooling than thanks to travelling.
IN FRANCE
Austria: 123.12-206.84=-83.72
Belgium: 336.53-357.28=-20.75
Finland: 73.87-37.61=36.26

Portugal: 98.50-122.23=-23.73
Spain: 525.31-498.31=27.00
Top three:
1 Finland
2 Spain
3 The Netherlands
Conclusion:We got these negative amounts, because there are less bills entered in France in July 2004 than in June 2004. We see here that Finland is the leader here in France. There are 36 more Finnish bills entered than in June. It’s good for a country like Spain, which is an EBT-desert, that we can find it here at the second place. When we compare with the top three of Austria, Belgium and Finland we can see that we can’t find Germany in this top three.
IN GERMANY
Austria: 4097.95-2940=1157.95
Belgium: 1365.98-980=385.98
Finland: 227.66-154.74=72.93

Spain: 1365.98-980=385.98
Top three:
1 Germany
2 Austria
3 France
Conclusion: Germany is the big leader here with 20266.54 German bills more entered in July than in June. None of the other countries ends up with more than 10%. The Austrian bills are the biggest foreigners here. The French bills came back from a negative total (June – May was negative) and are now on the third place.
IN GREECE
IN GREECE:
Austria: 11.04-10.33=0.71
Belgium: 20.08-26.87=-6.79
Finland: 5.02-15.16=-10.14

Spain: 75.80-108.86=-33.06
Top three:
1 Austria
2 Portugal
3 Ireland
Conclusion: As you can see there is now country, except Austria, which has a positive amount here in Greece. Even Greece itself hasn’t. It’s because there are less bills entered in July than in June. Turn this around and it would be very different ofcourse. Let’s hope August becomes a better month for Greece
IN IRELAND
Austria: 13.38-14.60=-1.23
Belgium: 9.73-14.60=-4.87
Finland: 2.43-6.26=-3.83
France: 24.32-21.90=2.42
Germany: 143.49-109.51=33.97
Greece: 8.51-4.17=4.34

Portugal: 147.14-93.87=53.26
Spain: 182.4-137.68=44.72
Top three:
1 The Netherlands
2 Portugal
3 Spain
Conclusion: The Netherlands made the biggest jump forwards. There were 83.70 Dutch more entered than in June 2004. Also Portugal and Spain do very well here in Ireland. Ireland lost the most bills, but it still leads with 491.26 bills entered in July 2004.
IN ITALY
Austria: 341.33-426.09=-84.76
Belgium: 141.24-137.85=3.39

Portugal: 94.16-75.19=18.97
Spain: 753.28-589.00=164.28
Top three:
1 Spain
2 Greece
3 The Netherlands
Conclusion: Here the biggest jump forwards is for Spain followed by Greece. The Netherlands ends up at the third place. The Italians did enter less bills in July than in June, that’s why there are so many countries with a negative amount in this list.
IN LUXEMBOURG
Austria: 2.88-6.07=-3.19
Belgium: 35.89-23.98=11.92
Finland: 4.98-2.07=2.91

Spain: 2114.30-1988.03=126.27
Top three:
1 Germany
2 France
3 Italy
Conclusion: The Netherlands is the first Euro country where more bills are entered from another country than Dutch bills. In July there are more than 2000 German bills more entered than Dutch bills. There are almost 1400 Dutch bills less entered than in June 2004. France and Italy are on the third place.
IN PORTUGAL:
Austria: 92.97-67.42=25.55

Portugal: 4640.15-3633.94=1006.21
Spain: 549.38-377.55=171.83
Top three:
1 Portugal
2 Germany
3 Greece
Conclusion: Portugal is the second country where the own Euro notes became first. Due to pooling there are a lot of Dutch and Greece notes in Portugal.
IN SPAIN:
Austria: 214.27-164.36=49.91
Belgium : 57.49-93.92=-36.43

The Netherlands: 99.29-98.62=0.68
Portugal: 130.65-112.70=17.95
Spain: 2137.43-1817.35=320.08
Top three:
1 Spain
2 Greece
3 France
Conclusion: Spain is the third country where the own Euro notes became first. Here are also a lot of Greek notes in circulation. It’s strange to see that we have very less Belgian notes here. Spain is a popular country for Belgian tourists.

That was I thinking too when I saw it. In the top three of Ireland you can find also February 2002 on the third place.nodisch18 wrote:querty wrote:

Re: Diffusion records
But that is not really depressive since the top 2 months are the most recent months. So ireland is only going up!querty wrote:In the top three of Ireland you can find also February 2002 on the third place.

In that case, I would say that the term 'diffusion' is not a good choice. The meaning of the word 'diffusion' comes close to 'circulation' or 'distribution'. I would expect that it would have to do something with the rate that bills move through Europe (and around the world) and the rate that bills from different countries get mixed.
The number of bills entered in a certain month does not say anything about these movements, it only increases the chance that the movements are being noticed in our database.

So, if I understand very well, you think it's a wrong title?Kasper wrote:In that case, I would say that the term 'diffusion' is not a good choice. The word Diffusion refers to the source where the data was obtained.
IMHO a better title would be: Diffusion sample size records.
