The George Score
The George Score
Hi! I saw this at www.wheresgeorge.com and thought we could use it here. The George Score (adapted by androl) is the result of a "simple" calculation, which follows:
100* ( SQRT(LN(Notes Entered)) + LN(Hits + 1) ) * (e^( - (Days of Inactivity / 100)))
(where SQRT stands for Square Root and LN for Logarithm)
The Top50 at the moment are the following:
BTW, the Where's George leader has 1495 George Points.
100* ( SQRT(LN(Notes Entered)) + LN(Hits + 1) ) * (e^( - (Days of Inactivity / 100)))
(where SQRT stands for Square Root and LN for Logarithm)
The Top50 at the moment are the following:
BTW, the Where's George leader has 1495 George Points.

so I have 732 points, and this user has 1589 negative points.
Joshu, a Chinese Zen master, asked a cow:
"Do you have Buddha-nature or not?"
The cow answered: "Moo."

Are you sure about the formula? It doesn't make much sense to me. Once you have more than 100 inactive days you can never get a positive figure again.
EDIT: Got it now. I thought you refer to total days of inactivity (since registering) instead of days since last note entry. Also the way you wrote the ranking with the "-" it looked like these guys had all negative scores. Sorry.

your formulas are a bit strange, emppu112 has negative inactive days.
i think you should only count whole inactive days, so today is 20th of may, that means only Trico with 18th gets *0.99 and jani73 with 16th gets *0.97, while the others can still enter their daily notes.

Sorry about that. I was using Excel to caluclate results, and the formula I was using was the following:androl wrote:your formulas are a bit strange, emppu112 has negative inactive days.

=100*(SQRT(LN(D#))+LN(E#+1))*(1-(TODAY()-F#;0)/100))
Where D# was the number of notes entered, E# the number of hits and F# the date of the last entered note.
The TODAY() formula returns only the day, so today it would return 20-05-2006 00:00:00
By subtracting the date of the last note entered, if it had been today, it would result in negative time, as you said. That's why I corrected it to the following:
=100*(SQRT(LN(D#))+LN(E#+1))*(1-((TODAY()-ROUNDDOWN(F#;0))/100))
The ROUNDDOWN(F#;0) rounds any date (for example, 20-05-2006 07:38:15) to the day only (20-05-2006 00:00:00), and the sum TODAY() - 20-05-2006 00:00:00 results in 0 as wanted.
Thank you for noticing. The new ranking has been displayed on Page 1

My score: 816,8 = 100 [√(ln 8823) + ln(187+1)] * [1 - (1/100)]
(Yesterday that would have been 825,0 so your TOP 50 probably refers to the top 50 list of users entering notes?)
The number is so much more related to the hit count than the number of notes that the list would probably be overoccupied by Finnish users. A couple of days ago I got a hit with a person with 5 notes entered - so his/her score was then 196,1...

Actually I wanted to score as many users as possible, but stopped at 100, thinking no more users could get enough point to enter the Top50. Is my face red!Eliezer wrote:My score: 816,8 = 100 [√(ln 8823) + ln(187+1)] * [1 - (1/100)]

I'll consider you (and many more users) in my next ranking, in the next Saturday.

I just found a problem with this formula: if ~LeuBs~ (or any user with negative score) had had less hits, his score would rise!androl wrote:so I have 732 points, and this user has 1589 negative points.

Re: The George Score
You can also calculate a George Score over only the notes of one denomination, or only one country of origin (countrycode). Although I don't know how to apply the inactivity penalty (long time none found penalty?) for these.
Anyway, here are mine (without applying long time none found penalty):
505,98 (last note entered some 10 minutes ago)
441,62
350,55
349,84
214,60
104,81

181,54

305,21
227,42
184,42
