The Association is looking for candidates for the new Board of Directors which will get elected in Vienna shortly (21 - 22 august).

According to the statutes there is one seat available for each of the official Euro countries (15) plus one seat representing all non-Euro countries.

These seats are in addition to founding members.

Candidates should be willing and able to invest a bit of time for discussions and online meetings. They will also need to comment on intermediate results of working groups and help with necessary decisions regularly.

Ideally candidates also bring a strong motivation and engagement for EBT. The Board of Directors shouldn't be a dead pro-forma gremium, but actively and lively shape the future of EBT!

We are also looking for candidates for the various working groups. These do not necessarily have to be members of the Board. In addition, the Association needs a Secretary.

Please discuss and apply here:

The seat of the French representative will also be able for vote at the next General Assembly.

The position of Treasurer will also be open.

For being a Treasurer you need to be part of the Board, therefore you need to put forward your candidacy.

I believe de-jo should disply which are the seats available for voting and which positions are open.

Candidates should try to write a motivation letter for supporting their candidacy. This will help people to vote for these candidates !

People, enjoy the EBT-Democracy !

As magpie stated in the german forum that he does not want to continue, I want to announce my candidacy for the german seat. I can imagine also to take the position of the treasurer.
Well, I guess many of you know me quite well, but here some facts about me:
  • German, 34 years old
  • Holding a diploma (quite equal to a master's degree) in computer science in natural sciences (with chemistry being my science, the german term is: "Naturwissenschaftliche Informatik")
  • Working for a international company manufacuturing steel tubes and automotive parts (my field is called "information management")
  • What most people from EBT don't know yet: I am also a local politican for germany's liberal party (but I am distinguishing private things and politics strictly, thus it will be new to most here), I am the treasurer for the local district (=Kreisverband) since 9 years now
  • Speaking german and english (and some computer languages ;) ), plus a bit french and (rather understanding some) dutch and some words slovakian.
Well, what do i want to change, what will be my main focus
  • Clarify structures, one of those steps I already announced as some ideas for the statutes which should clarified and increase the usability for the association
  • If elected as treasurer, I want to establish the idea which the merchandize things
  • Also some sort of carification: My idea is to start a ticket tool for the EBT support
  • In the technical background I want to give EBT a technical rights managent basis (based in OpenLDAP) which might make the above mentioned ticket tool and many more features more handy to mange
Edit:
Well, my addiction to EBT is quite obvious looking at my recent entering rates;) Besides that, I am a babel translator (for german) and support member, answering email requesting for some changes in the notes' oder users' data. And I am - besides avij the only other - member of the technical working group. If you never heared about what we are doing - well, maybe we are doing our job too good ;) But that working group is active, but at the moment rather only solving technical problems. Technical things I want to change in the coming BoD-year where already stated above (and unlike many politicans I hate to repeat what others or I have already said :) )

I want to announce my candidacy for the Belgian seat.

Who am I?
  • Belgian 37 years old
  • Holding a diplomas of economics, webmastering, webdeveloping and... touristic guide for Flanders (Belgium). Because I like to study, I have several other diplomas but not relevant to the seat.
  • I work as a internet/intranet specialist for the second largest energyprovider in Belgium.
Volunteer?
I also am a volunteer for two different organisations.
  • I'm an active member of Cunina, which is a charity-organisation
  • I'm one of the headmembers of the labourunion of our company.
What do I do at EBT?
Most people do know me as a die-hard meetingmember, "bad-ass" ;-) hitmoderator, dutch forummoderator and organiser of several meeting including the very first international EBTM (EBTM04 Brussels)
I'm also a "cleaning girl", babeltranslator and occasionally emailanswerer.

Why volunteer for a seat of the board?
Well, that's quiet easy to answer. I believe EBT is a great hobby for all of us.
Since I'm a longtime member (march2002 user=1885), I've seen EBT grow and grow.
I believe there is still some place for growth even more, but to do that we need some things:
  • Cash. I have many ideas to generate cash for our website and still keep the site free for all of us. I think this point is the most important point, because at this moment we still are loosing money and one person is paying for that and that's not normal!
  • New developments: In many of the ebtforums and many of the meetings, I hear people asking for new improvements for the site. We should improve the process to get new things on our beloved website
  • Structure: I believe that installing the association was a good thing, but I believe we should grow the structure of the association even further. More people should be involved, the minutes of the board should be published and there should be room for local divisions of the association
  • Members vs non members: I believe that paying members should have an extra. I have several ideas about that
  • Meetings: Next to the seat of president and the secretary there should be a boardmember dedicated to "meetings". The EBTM's are getting bigger and bigger. Since they represent EBT, I believe there should be boardmember involved in the organisation of them.

I'd like to run for the :flag-pt: seat.

Let me present myself
  • Portuguese 36 years young man
  • Graduate in accounts and economics. Certificate in Advanced English by Cambridge University.
  • Current position: financial controller at a multinational food retail company
What do I do at EBT?
Moderator for the Portuguese forum, member of the BoD for the Portuguese seat on current mandate.
Member of the DataBase Workgroup.
User #1 in notes and hits in :flag-pt: registered in 2005/02/14.

Reason to volunteer for a seat of the board?
I'm much involved with EBT. I invest a lot of time into this hobby and I'd like to see it grow even more. Nevertheless, as I'm already a BoD member for this mandate, I'll accept easily if another :flag-pt: user candidates and is elected.

Dear de-jo,

I would be pleased to join as the Spanish candidate, as I like this site. Neverthelesss, I know that I cannot commit to it because my time will be scarce once my holidays will be over.

However, I can translate the previous message into Spanish and post it in the Spanish forum, just in case. Is that desirable? is there any problem?

Dear Jes,

with all respect, you first need to be member of the Association for candidacing. Secondly, it's preferably to submit at candidacy when you know that you will be able to commit yourself.

We indeed need that some work be done.

thank you

The Finnish board seat will be open for election on GA. I would very much like that there would be someone willing to take the seat instead of me - but still I'm announcing my candidacy for the seat just in case no one else is willing to take that seat.

Since a response from other possible Austrian candidates so far hasn't been forthcoming, I announce my (re-)candidacy for the Austrian seat.

About me:
I'm a 37 years old (mostly database) programmer (currently between jobs) with some experience in graphic design. I'm a Linux 'freak' and sporadically write small patches for projects that interest me. I'm also interested in languages, though I only speak German and English fluently; I can read romance and other germanic languages well enough to answer some support requests, and I am currently learning Slovenian.

And what about EBT?
At EBT I'm a coordinate plotter, Babel translator, and support member sporadically answering email requests (and rather more often answering P.M. requests ;) ).
I've also been considering becoming a member of the web-dev working group, but put that off for when the note entering virus releases it's hold on me a bit. When (not if!) I do join that working group, expect some developments in site design and the way city profiles are managed.
Also I've been member of the BoD representing Austria from 2008-2009 and with avij organized the new logo competition.

So why do it again?
Well, I'm addicted to EBT enough that I want to do my share in helping managing it - it's quite a beast and it does need constant supervision. ;)

I have the honour to candidate for President of the Association Européenne des EuroBillTrackers.

My candidature lies in the continuity of the Presidency by de-jo.

As de-jo described it, a lot of things have already been achieved, some more actions need to be taken.

The Association is still young and it needs more stability and structure.

My main objective will be to make sure that more people get involved into the Association and that more work be done for the development of the Association.

Having the possibility to travel often for my job, I hope to be able to meet a lot of Board Members and other Members of the Association and act as a spokesperson for the Association.
