I am glad I found this site and have already entered my first 2 bills here. One thing I wanted to know is if you guys stamp or write on your bills to promote the website and spread the word?
When I lived in the states I bought a rubber stamp that fit perfectly around the seal on our bills that gave all the information.
Here is the type I used to use.
I have lived here over 1 1/2 years and just now found this site, so I would love to make sure word gets around about it.
Also, does EBT have a Facebook site?
Thanks,
Steve
Hello Braingasim (Steve),
Welcome to the Netherlands and welcome to EBT.
First, there's a big difference between "Where's George" and "Eurobilltracking": In Where's George you register the notes at the city where you are at that moment (most times your home, but an internetcafé or hotel is also possible). With Eurobilltracking you register the note(s) at the city/village where you received it. So it is possible to "collect" tracked cities (like in
this topic). In the Netherlands each village has its own city-profile. But when you crosses the German border, the city-profiles are (to avoid the database getting too large) equal to the municipalities.
About stamping the notes: the banks in some countries are checking the notes more strictly than those in other countries. It's a pity for us, because the Dutch and German banks are most critical with this.
In my starting period I made the mistake of stamping all my notes. When I changed them at the bank, the employee saw them, said "someone used these as advertising" and put them aside for "destroying". So these notes will never become a hit.
Nowadays, I stamp them only if the notes look very used (and will be destroyed anyway as soon as they arrived at a bank). In that case they can serve us by bringing more people to our website.
So, have a good time here, find back our notes

and maybe we'll see each other in real (that's also possible).
