Sometimes, based on the actions of a couple of abusers, irc servers may ban whole domains. Maybe my ISP was banned, or maybe all of the Portuguese servers were banned (yes, they will sometimes ban an entire country). There's nothing I can do, except waiting for a ban lift

(yes, this is ridiculous. It's like having three or four very active serialists from Belgium in EBT and then the webmaster deciding never accepting a user from belgium again)

You tried using irc.stealth.net ?
What about irc.ludd.luth.se ?
At least a webcaht should work.
Or irc.YourISPName.pt
For me irc.saunalahti.fi works, as I'm a Saunalahti customer. The same way Song users use irc.song.fi and so on. You can email your Internet service provider and ask what their irc-server's address is. Almost every ISP has one, you just need the address.

These wouldn't do me any good, since I'm trying to connect to IRCNet (where the #ebt channel is). My ISP IRC server only connects me to PTNet, which isn't of any use. Any IRCNet server will say I have an unauthorized connection (and believe me, I tried a few).

Try emailing people at stealth.net or ludd.luth.se . Especially the people at ludd.luth.se have been quite helpful with these things before (they let ircnet.org have webchat through them for a while).

isn't it easyer to create a channel on Quakenet since most of the people who have mIRC are on quakenet
