Not as a nic, but otherwise it is very commonly used in its "N.N." form. :)

Yep, and probably most people signing with N.N. don't really know what N.N. stands for

oh I thought N.N. only means "nomen nominandum", but now I see it also means "nomen nescio"

My nickname is a short form for my surname.

My surname is "Ognibeni", from Ognibeni to Ogni, from Ogni to Gnu.

Simply this.

I like this nickname because it's similar to the word "Gnomic".

If you have ever read Tolkien's books, you know what I'm talking about.

sö questa vita che sògnum de sfroos,
in questa nòcc che prègum de sfroos."

Ok,

my nickname comes from a nice blue monster in a tv-show for children (Sesame Street, German: Grobi, English: Grover, I don´t know other names). Since the internet and irc grows and grows I could´t manage to get this name all the time, so I decided to get another name. That was the time when club music was a big thing in Berlin (Love Parade etc.) and people get used to shortcut words that ended with an "i" in German to let them end with an "e" somehow. So I copied this for my own nickname and kept it until now.

So far so good...

My nickname has not to be pronounced like "man", the english word
it doesn't mean man
it's only a deformation of my surname: Clément
it's the french pronounciation

Namen (or Namur), yes. Although I understand it all. I even know the German name for Liège/Luik: Lüttich (and in the Liègeois dialect: Lîdge  )
Machelen a/d Leie is part of Zulte, between Deinze and Waregem (for the Belgian soccer fans: yes, the Zulte-Waregem who just beat Club Brugge for the Championships 8) ) There is another Machelen, just near Brussels (Brussel or Bruxelles for us  )
