EBTrs on facebook ?

Post by alex77r »

Hi, I have just found out the website Facebook.com

are there some EBTers there?

What do you think about creating a group for EBT people?

Sono d' accordo - I agree. :D If we make it for EBT, we will have to describe how we came together, what we do... And with our language power we can describe in all Euro languages.

Other opinions? Guess it is a good idea.

The most popular similar system in Finland is www.irc-galleria.net where we already have a community. There you find at least many finns.

Hey, actually I could do something with facebook, after all. I'm quite strongly against it, but in this case there's something that supersedes that boycott. So.. If anyone's got an idea how to properly inform other EBT users about Giro's unfortunate mischief using Facebook, then I'm with you! :)

wwell me and another user allready put a text on facebook, but the members of the eurobilltracker-group do NOT get an automatic notification of this.

as i don't like spamming i did NOT send private messages to everyone. Yet. first i want to see how the situation evolves.

may i ask btw why you oppose facebook ? For me personally it's a good way to keep contact with friends abroad. Just as a way of wasting time i'm against it too actually

Several privacy concerns. The strongest being that whatever a facebook user buys from any major American internet store gets automatically published in his Facebook profile. (The site sees Facebook's cookie on your hard drive and then sends Facebook a message telling you've bought yourself a new pink 40cm dildo.) And you can't prevent this from happening, you can only go and remove the text from your profile /after/ it's added.
A site with privacy policy like that should not be used.

there's a way of escaping this by adding some feature i believe, but as i never buy anything via facebook it's not really a problem for me.
but itdoes raise concerns about how well privacy is handled.
they could take an example from ebt.
well ebt.EU at least  :o

I sent a message to the group's admin hoping that he/she would send a notification to all (that is possible for admins). Hopefully he/she will read the message and act to it.

There is also a link posted at group's discussion board.

There is NO way of escaping that. It is a facebook advertising feature and the don't allow circumventing it.
Also, you don't need to buy the product through facebook. The websites (amazon.com and other such sites) recognize that you are a facebook user and automatically tell facebook what you have bought. You don't need to have facebook open for that to happen.
