Re: Eurobilltracker-site Feedback.
I have modified the webserver's HTTPS configuration slightly according to https://weakdh.org/sysadmin.html. This change should not affect anyone, but I'm posting this notice here just in case.
Another forthcoming HTTPS related change is to update the certificates from SHA-1 to SHA-256, probably in the next few months. The current certificate expires on 30.9.2015, so definitely earlier than that. If you are still using a pre-SP3 Windows XP computer, now might be a good time to start thinking about upgrading. If you can access https://www.openssl.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with your computer and/or phone, you should be fine.

Is the server ready for the extra second we have the coming night? (CEST 02:00; EEST 03:00)

Via normal http, EBT is very slow at the moment. Via https, everything works fine...

Re: Eurobilltracker-site Feedback.
Yes and no -- the server itself handled the leap second just fine, but sadly it appears that MariaDB does not understand leap seconds (at least this one). Therefore nobody was able to enter notes during the leap second. I'm not quite sure if any notes entered during that second ended up as xx:59:59 or xx:00:00, or if EBT emitted an error. I only know that if I try to set some note's timestamp manually to the leap second via SQL, I end up with an error.eddydevries wrote:Is the server ready for the extra second we have the coming night? Hm, I don't see anything unusual from my side. Is this still a problem? Anyone else experiencing the same problem?Crazy Bob wrote:Via normal http, EBT is very slow at the moment. Via https, everything works fine...
If there is a difference between http and https, it suggests some sort of a firewall that is interfering with http traffic. As far as EBT server firewall is concerned, it does not distinguish between http and https, so if there's a firewall problem, it's somewhere between EBT's server and your computer. This may be a bit difficult to diagnose, so hopefully the problem has vanished by now.

When I browse to https://www.eurobilltracker.com/press/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it shows the part of articles published in 2014 automaticly. Perhaps this can be changed to 2015 now as there is at least one article mentioned in the 2015 section
Re: Eurobilltracker-site Feedback.
A little bug, I believe:
I have a new hit: https://nl.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=154597121" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When I click on the other user's nickname, I go to his profile page: https://nl.eurobilltracker.com/profile/?user=54131" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There, it says we have 3 hits in common. When I click on the "3 hits", I see an empty page: https://nl.eurobilltracker.com/my_hits/ ... %D0%AF1712" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
While I believe there should be at least one hit to display...

I came across the following hit: http://nl.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=137984152" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Nothing strange so far but when viewing any of the two user's hits here and here it is shown as 0 km distance. Where is the little bug?

EDIT: I thought it was already solved, but it isn't.Fons wrote:I came across the following hit: http://nl.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=137984152" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Eurobilltracker-site Feedback.
EBT's mail server now uses DKIM to sign all outgoing mail. Some email providers (such as GMail) like receiving DKIM-signed email. Please let me know if this causes problems for someone, or if you think there is a misconfiguration somewhere.

Re: Eurobilltracker-site Feedback.
This has now been implemented along with a new certificate. I tested this with all the web capable devices I have at home and everything seems to work fine. Let me know if you run into problems.avij wrote:Another forthcoming HTTPS related change is to update the certificates from SHA-1 to SHA-256, probably in the next few months. Somewhat relatedly: I may not have mentioned it earlier, but EBT has been sending out encrypted emails since October 2014 (primarily to major email providers that have the necessary configuration in place). If you examine the headers of emails sent by EBT, you may see something like ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256. That's encryption in action.
The new thing is that EBT's mail server now also accepts inbound encrypted email connections. This is unlikely to affect anyone, but for your information anyway.

Re: Eurobilltracker-site Feedback.
When clicking on links to the notes I entered in some regions (like profile of Berlin -> notes entered in Berlin, even if I don't have any notes there), the whole EBT site isn't working for 1-2 minutes.
Joshu, a Chinese Zen master, asked a cow:
"Do you have Buddha-nature or not?"
The cow answered: "Moo."

Re: Eurobilltracker-site Feedback.
I was not able to reproduce this problem myself. Regardless of that, I'm adding one index to the bills table which might help with this and one related performance problem. The index will be added tonight at around 04:00 CEST. Entering notes during that time will not be possible. I don't know for certain how long it's going to take, but the development server took 13 minutes to add the index. Please check the situation tomorrow and report back.androl wrote:When clicking on links to the notes I entered in some regions (like profile of Berlin -> notes entered in Berlin, even if I don't have any notes there), the whole EBT site isn't working for 1-2 minutes.
