Re: norway and the euro
If you fly via Gardermoen there are some euro-atms. I believe there's one in Bergen too.
Otherwise you can try to exchange your Norwegian crowns into euro.
Last time I was in Norway I exchanged my crowns into euro and asked the lady if she could also change some euro to euro... and guess what... she did it

Re: norway and the euro
I never tried to pay with Euros in Norway and I think in contrast to Denmark they won't know what to do with that coulered piece of paper you hold in your hands. However, the banks I visited in Norway seemed to be very glad that someone came and supported them with
giving me in exchange some
and
. So just try it.
If you go via Denmark try the recreation areas at the E47 - some of them are nice and change your bills some of them behave more rude and explain, you could pay with 'Eur' but according to their exchange rate and you will get Dkr in return (which are of no use in Norway) - just leave this shop(s). If you go by ferry from Denmark to Norway (Colorline): They have an 'onboard' bank at the reception which will change you some notes if you ask in a polite way. And the Hirthals terminal seems to do something like that too (so a
change might be possible
)
If you plan some trips with a guide or something like that - ask him if he wants Eur or Nkr. Sometimes they take the Eur to avoid the exchange fee in the norwegian banks for their next holiday trip to the Eurozone. (Normally they use a 1EUr=8nkr exchange rate which is better than in german banks but maybe a little below the netto rate in Norway (depends on the economical devellopment of Euroland))
Well that are most of the things I know about going by car to Norway

There are some more ATMs, especially by Sparebank and Nordlandsbanken.Fons wrote:If you fly via Gardermoen there are some euro-atms. I believe there's one in Bergen too.
Please have a look at Euro cash dispensers outside the Euro zone.
Re: norway and the euro
Euros generally aren't accepted, and if they are you'll likely get a bad rate and NOK in change. ATMs giving out EUR are found at the international airports (OSL has a line of ATMs with lots of currencies) but also other places, I know of one in downtown Trondheim which I used before going to Barcelona last year (one of them got hit in Gent, Belgium
). Generally these only give out
You should of course also exchange your remaining NOK to EUR before returning so you can enter some notes in Norway. I got the second of my three hits that way, in Tallinn.

Re: norway and the euro
In the Central station of Oslo, there is a Euro ATM available from Nordea, and in Bergen, you could withdraw Euros from special ATMs inside the Sparebanken Vest. All banks can easily change for you, but be aware of the fee (generally 30 NOK). In some hotels, hostels and reastaurants, it shouldn't be a problem, too, but they generally don't keep euros for change, and the exchange rate will probably be higher.
Of course, I mainly visited the bigger cities, I can't really tell for the smaller places.

Sorry to dig up that old thread but this is the closest I could find
Does someone know if there's any NOK bill tracker website?

Re: norway and the euro
I don't know any 'specialized' NOK bill tracker website. The all-currency website CurrencyPath (discussed here) does also track NOK. But I would only choose that one if there is really nothing else.LucasFr wrote:Sorry to dig up that old thread but this is the closest I could find![]()

Addition: There is not much activity there (8161 notes in 2 years, all currencies worldwide together!), so very unlikely to get a hit.

In Tromsö there is at least one automate in the centrum where you can withdraw euros (giving only
). I don't remember the address but just ask from the tourist info and they tell you. At least that was the situation in June 2011
