Estonian is different from Finnish, although they are in the same family group of languages. A bit like Italian and French.

It always depends if there are vollunteers who speak Estonian if there will be an Estonian part of the forum.
Jelle zonder internet. Het was een leuke hobby, maar niet mijn hobby. Een leven zonder internet is mijn ding. Een leven van geld uitgeven in plaats van tracken zeg maar.... hahaha. Ja, er mag gelachen worden.

And we should not forget that we should have an Estonian version of the main site as well.
My NIG stats have finally disappeared. My EBTST stats are still available.

There's already a Lithoanian version, so indeed it would be nice if there'll be an Estonian one as well.

Winter in Estonia... it sounds too "cool"
(I meant: cold)

It can be too hot, because you can't take off your skin.
But too cold.. That is not possible, since you can always wear more and more clothes. At some point you can't move without someone else rolling you, but keeping comfortably warm is possible no matter what the temperature is.
And the bar where you'd drink beer will be +20 grades celcius anyway.

Indeed, I agree. Although I always feel unconfy when wearing too many clothes. Anyway, be where it may, welcome Estonia and welcome winter meetings :o

As Estonia will be similary isolated as Finland is now, there will be much Hits between those countries I suppose. However the exact amount of hits should depend on the number of Estonian trackers which depend on the number of internet users in Estonia.
With an Internet coverage of 68,7% and 888k Internet users Estonia lies slightly behind Germany with a coverage of 75% and with a hitratio of 250.
This results in Estonia having a hitratio somewhere between the german hitratio and the finnish hitratio (maybe 200), and some more users than Estonia has now. My opinion: Start the EBT PR Engine and drop information on EBT all over Estonia...we need some more than some users there... :roll: :roll:
One Currency, one Union, one Eurobilltracker...
My dots are of the same order as 10.

Then again, Estonians are very eager to adopt new ideas and hobbies, whereas Germans usually look at everything new with a lot of scepticity. I would estimate the Estonian hitratio will therefore be very good.
Estonia is about the number one place in Europe when it comes for example to mobile services. Keep in mind that even Skype is Estonian.
I've compiled some statistics on how active Estonians are in Internet, compared to the French, Finns and Germans.. The smaller the number in inhabitants/user(cache), the more active the inhabitants of that country are in using the site.

Code: Select all

                        Estonia   Germany   Finland   France    Netherlands
                        1,34mil   81,7mil   5,36mil   65,4mil   16,6mil

Couchsurfing.com        4087      199914    11427     182968    40653
  * inhabitants/user     327,9     408,6     469,1     357,4     408,3

Hospitalityclub.org     5704      86256     11317     48759     8243
  * inhabitants/user     234,9     947,2     473,6     1341,3    2013,8

Geocaching.com (caches) 492       27007     2770      1591      3100
  * inhabitants/cache    2723,5    3025,1    1935,0    41106,2   5354,8

Postcrossing.com        1826      14651     12490     3096      10908
  * inhabitants/user     733,8     5576,4    429,1     21124,0   1521,8

Eurobilltracker.eu      Blah      24502     32700     10776     21753
  * inhabitants/user     Pörrö     3334,4    163,9     6069,0    763,1
As you can see, Estonia is the most active country of these five in couchsurfing and hospitalityclub. On Geocaching and Postcrossing Estonia is on the second place, but still doing very well.

Therefore I have very high expectations. It is possible for the Estonians to have a better hitratio than that in Finland. I would estimate it to be about the same as in Finland with an error margin of approximately 15% to either direction.

In other words: It is especially important to do our PR well in Estonia, because the potential is so high!

Old news but I didn't see it posted on the forums.
Swedbank Estonia announced on Friday that they are looking for a technical solution to issue 5 euro banknotes via ATMs after Estonia adopts the euro.
