Four years...I would prefer 2008 for many countries.

I also read recently from a newspaper that Poland is concidering introducing Euro as fast as possible. That will be also many years, but eventually...
Living away from Euro zone in the beautiful Vancouver, Canada since January 2012. Experiences and stories of living in here can be found in here (in Finnish).

Today ECB will tell their recommendation if Slovakia should join the euro zone next year or not. Nobody expects a "no" after the reported inflation rate of Slovakia fulfilling the criterion.

Slovakia has been accepted and will join us on on January 1st, 2009. See news article for example here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/feedarticle/7503001

Whej! :)

Quite surprising that they're joining before CZ.

I guess it will be taking some time before new countries (except the ones who are already scheduled to join) are entering the € zone, with the recent turmoil on the money market.
For example, how could they demand a inflation rate below 3% as a condition to join, if the € is above 3% itself? ;)

I might be wrong, but no inflation limit of 3% is set. Instead, the limit equals to 1,5% + the average inflation in the three EU (Eurozone?) states with the lowest inflation rate.
