Someone tried to pass a counterfeit at Texaco Salthill last week.

Most fake bills are printed in batches, all with the same serial number, so - if it has a valid serial number - the chance that someone has entered it before is quite big.

It is not an easy issue.

The serial number does not come up as valid.
I asked man at garage to double check photo of note and he came up with same serial number.
Paper quality was bad,no line,but hologram stuck on to note.

Imho, EBT was created for tracking euro banknotes, and the counterfeited notes are not really ones.

If this note had water mark and hologram , it may have spent some time in washing machine and may not have been counterfeit at all, DISCLAIMER.

But if you do enter the note and get a hit, won't that point to another place where the "same" fake note has been used? The police might be interested in that. Maybe it's even worthwile to keep it even if there's no hit in order to "trap" other fakes? Just some thoughts....

I've just checked my notes... just in case. No similar serial number was found by me. (fortunately!)
