This one is almost horizontal: http://es.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=96442268. BTW, the Greek town is Evosmos.

I wonder what combination of cities is most likely to produce a straight line? And what three cities are most likely to produce a right angle triple? I'm sure we can figure this out somehow.

This is my longest vertical hit (I believe):

Hits between :flag-at: Vienna and :flag-de: Munich are producing straight horizontal lines:
eg. http://en.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=23064933" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My longest horizontal line is this between :flag-at: Vienna and :flag-de: Rottweil with 572 km.

CNGL wrote:This one is almost horizontal: http://es.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=96442268.
the real shortest path between the two places by the way is inclined over 9° to the North in Spain and 8° to the North in Greece, and it goes exactly through between Corse and Sardinia
http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, enter:
40.6631 22.9161
40.4572 -3.6609

my longest west-east hit however, which shows as a really horizontal line in EBT, goes always south, with 0°04′40″ at its western and 3°17′04″ at its eastern point

To my knowledge, EBT uses the great circle distance to calculate this distance, but then shows the hits as straight lines on what looks to be a Mercator projection map.
My NIG stats have finally disappeared. My EBTST stats are still available.
