Having looked again,Uusimaa :flag-fi: is very close and may be a hotter spot for international hits.

Vienna with a hit ratio of less than 100 is a good hot spot!

SeanW wrote:Yeah, I was surprised that I beat the Finnish hit average to get 3/96 active hits, but after dropping a similar number of notes, to get absolutely no passive hits at all in the intervening months.

As for hit hotspots, if you had a €5 to spend in Ireland with the objective of getting a passive hit, you want to go to Dalkey. Especially if you get there early in the day.
Well, I left around 50 notes in Finland on my one and only trip (back in December last year) and no hit yet... and also picked up around 20 notes while I was there - no hit.

AND I left a wad of €5s with the bar man in the The Queen's in Dalkey, but no-one has found one yet! :wink: (as well as picking up several notes in change at other locations in the town, without success!!)

So yes, expecting a hit can only lead to disappointment!

Helsinki (or Helsinki economical region, covering Helsinki and 18 other cities/municipalities) is way down from being a Finnish hit hot spot. Here's a hot spot map of Finland and Estonia, made by

The hottest spots form a belt from Southern Ostrobothnia on the west coast through Central Finland to the Russian border at the south east corner. The hottest spot is Joutsa (economical region) in Central Finland, with a hit ratio of 1:24.61. Helsinki is #10 on the list of Finnish 10 worst hit ratios. :mrgreen:

There is one hot spot in Estonia, Lääne-Viru maakond. Just 911 notes entered and 34 hits :arrow: a hit ratio of 1:26.79.

Yes it is.
And I will study it over the next few weeks and check out those hotspots.
There is a lot of work put into it, and it looks great. 8)

What surprises me the most is that the Aland islands are so hot.
It must be a good tourist spot. :?:

In fact, the town (and "ecoregion") of Mariehamn is the worst hot spot on Åland islands. The two other ecoregions (Ålands landsbygd "the rural area on Åland" and Ålands skärgård "Åland archipelago") are better. Especially the former one of those two. There are the "cities" with a hit ratio between 1:13.38 and 1:15.78. Even though Mariehamn is a good tourist spot, I'd say that a good way to explore Åland is to lend a bicycle or bring with you your own one. On the bike saddle it is easy to both cover good tourist spots and cover the areas around Mariehamn with euro notes :wink:

And, no, I do not work for the tourist board of Åland. 8)

I have also had notes brought from Estonia and Slovakia resulting in this hit :- http://en.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=97387712" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Finally, a passive hit with 1 of these notes.

7 and a half years and 2 hits. I can confirm Cork is not a hit hot spot.
