In order to deal with the massive amounts of spam guest postings are no longer allowed in all international/english forums (e.g. Euro/Europa, EuroBillTracker Users, ...)

Sorry for any inconvenience, but guest postings have been on moderation queue for quite some time now and would usually be disapproved without being read anyway. There are simply too few active moderators on the forum to read each of the hundreds of guest postings every day and filter the ONE occasional valid message.

For now guest postings are still enabled in the national forums but this might change as well.

In my opinion this is not fighting the problem, but rather applying a patch to stop the bleeding without trying to stop the source. You should really install something to hinder these spammers at the source, for example (previously suggested) mods such as this one or this one.

In a second step guest postings have been disabled in the other forums as well.

I know. The main change is for me as I don't have to disapprove hundreds of spam postings every day any longer (click, click, click, that sucks and wastes my time).

I've been bugging avij already to install one of the spam blocker plugins. (I don't really know how to do this myself and would rather not experiment with a live forum.) Let's hope he finds some time for this task.
