Estonian Euro Notes

Post by tabbs »

Came across a post in a coin forum that pointed at this article (in Estonian) about the notes to be commissioned by Eesti Pank. So it seems there will be "D" notes (€20) next year, printed by Bundesdruckerei. Also see this link: http://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/euro/pro ... ex.en.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If Greece ever gets kicked out of the Euro area, it will probably keep using the Euro in the same manner as Montenegro currently does.

Not if they are forced to devalue their currency.

If we kicked out of eurozone... there is no way to use euros! We will have to devaluate our currency... so we will have to go to drachmas! there is absolutelly no reason to keep using euros if we are not in! If we devaluate drachmas.... do you know the rate for euros? Most probably it will be 750 drachmas to 1 euro. and that is more than twice the rate we entered... (340.75 drachmas per euro)! It will be a disaster for us... but maybe market here will start its engines! It is complicated and you can only understand situations if you live here...

of course.... if we leave... Ido not know what problems this will bring to EU too!it will be a domino with unknown final results....
If you go and see the countries dept... you will see that many countries in eu are in the same or even worse possision.... but that is an other story....

Yes, of course, if Greece were to leave the euro area (no matter whether that is legally possible), that would have consequences elsewhere too. Directly because some investors would lose quite a bit of money too, but also indirectly: What country would be next on the list, or would it it the euro area as a whole?

As for the question of €5 notes commissioned (not printed) by CY-MT-SI-SK, have a look at this list:
http://en.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?command=8;tab=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Cyprus would be "G" (in the serial number), Estonia "D", Malta "F", Slovakia "E", and Slovenia "H". So when you see a "G" in the "5€" column, click on that to get some details about the note. You will also see that not all of them were found/tracked this year.

On the French part of the forum nico13 says that he has obtained two R028/D01 20€ (that would be "Estonian Notes") and that EBT doesn't accept them.

He's asking if they are false or....?

Looks like I have to add support for the Estonian D notes, at least the serial number checksum seems to match.

They're really not that uncommon. R051/D are just around two years old and they keep surfacing in Germany. Now if those were R049, they might be of some value.
