Re: Avij's and Nerzhul's famous to do list

Post by sen-chuan »

I have a question I whiz in the head for so long. With all due respect for those who love statistics, I believe that this table is totally wrong and not real to diffusion of notes. I refer mainly to the letter 'J' for 'Italy because I have more knowledge of Italian notes and I know for sure that Italy has never issued notes of :note-5: for France (well-distributed 4 476 according to the table). Obviously, in bona fide, this should be inattaention in press right key, but it could be a consisting rage of fake notes entered the database.
IMHO, either correct the wrong notes nor show this table online. Any other suggestion/answer is appreciated.

A suggestion made in the suspicous user topic:
De-Ker wrote:Might be an idea to collor the shortcode field yellow for advanced and expert users if it doesn't match according to this list;

Yellow means "strange or not known combination" but it doesn't stop you from entering the note.

im not a website coder but it shouldn't be to hard to code i think. Might be harder when you want to add the specific value to a note combo
Edit: A link to the list.
My NIG stats have finally disappeared. My EBTST stats are still available.

Good idea, but who will maintain such a list? AFAIK new printer/sn combinations appear all the time...

That's could be an idea, why not?

Yes, but some of them are not real... a specific team, in collaboration with/or cleaning ladies could do this as well.

max 1 in every 2 months there is a new combo i think..

Anyway that's why it's yellow and doesn't stop you from entering the note. and as i said im not a IT guy but after i looked into the source of the entering page it doesn't seem to difficult..and it doesn't really mather if a new combo is not entered instantly

when you add a string or so like "validateShortcodeSerial" which links to the database known list (same as it links to the flags now)..
If there is a new combo that should only be added to the database

Or am i now thinking to easy?

Guy Sohier and me (and surely others) maintain lists of currently known combinations. Guy's site http://liste.eurobillets.free.fr/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
is well-known among collectors and statistics lovers. I use his information (and others, like the "Highest Short Codes"-Thread)
to compile my own list, which is also used by a script written by me that tells you which of the known combinations you have
already found by searching through your notes-CSV file and comparing it with the list. My list can be found here.

I would volunteer on maintaining a known combinations list for EBT. Together with others, like Guy for example, the information
could quickly be kept up-to-date.

Also giulcenc (in collaboration with yli, I suppose - please tell me if wrong) has made a table regarding connection short codes/serial.

i.e. : J014
  • :note-5: --
  • :note-10: --
  • :note-20: S1404-1457/ S1674-1943 Trichet
  • :note-50: S080-103 Duisenberg
  • :note-100: S112-115 Trichet
  • :note-200: --
  • :note-500: --
(His table in my possession refers till January 2009)

Wrong combinations are good hints for cleaning girls for finding out about fakers.

I would prefer to avoid developping a system that would finally help out fakers in better faking...

Actually we have this big table that show us all the shortcode/serial combinations entered in EBT and links to the list of last entries of every combination.
It'd be a good idea to "split" those results with two cascade-menus "by country" (maybe euro-countries only?) and "hit-notes only".
Doing this, it'll be very easy to look, i.e., for all the :note-20: P/X notes entered from Austria, or all :note-5: F/N that are hits in Louxembourg.

Right.

No, that's not the idea. Typos are almost as fake notes (I always look at the good side of most EBTers  ...)

Well in addition, could it be an idea to colour them yellow in your note list. So after you inserted them. You could also build in a month delay after the note is inserted so you can still find your fakers but i can also correct the fake inserted short codes without NIG...

Edit: i don't know if you guys can see the amount of corrected notes by a user but if that's the case you might help to find fakers who correct loads of notes after they found out that their combo's don't exist

There is a bug in the display of the time when you last entered a note on the main page. For me, it is always one hour later than when I actually entered a note. The times on the /my_notes/ page are correct.
The "last note entered" time probably gets an incorrect timezone adjustment.

It's the correct Finnish Time - the server is located in that timezone. That's also the reason that an EBT day is from 23.00 to 22.59 Central European Time

Then it is still incorrect. All other times are in MET. It doesn't matter if you are logged in or not, times when notes are entered or when hits occured are always displayed in MET. Only the display of the last note entered is in EET. It is confusing and very strange that only this time is displayed in EET.

Are you sure? When I look at the page 'My notes' and compare the date of the last note entered with that displayed in the profile summary - well they don't differ.
