This is the information provided by Wheresgeorge about what they call "alternate hits".

When having the hit, I received the following information by email and although it was an "alternate hit", I felt quite happy:

"Your 2003A One dollar bill with serial number E6444---4H has just been re-entered as an Alternate Hit into Where's George?!

Click on the link below to see the tracking report.

(You may need to copy and paste the entire link into your browser.)"

When I did open the links and understood about "alternate hits", I thought it was a clever way of dealing with such hits, instead of our endless discussions on the S&U forum.

A hit on a dead straight line is quite interesting because it is quite unusual. That may be scored on deviation from 0º/180º or 90º/270º.

i don't want to interfere too much in this complicated subject, but perhaps, it could be a "first step" if a simple, open system of "notation" (for instance from 0 to 5 "stars"; or from 0 to 5 "points") open to anybody. We vote if we like or dislike the hit, just like a "poll". Why not ?

Because people may give 0 points because they dislike one of the persons involved instead of the hit? (Shame on them!)

+1 ;)

For your information, this point has been already AGREED by the Board. But due to a serious lack of persons into the Dev WG, it's actually impossible to give you this "system". I think, for more reasonable and/or simple use, that just a "I like" button can be operational  the more "likes" are given by the EBTers, the more interesting Hit is.
