Re: Comments from/to non-Italian forumers
Probably not, why? I intended to spend them in Germany, but let's see. I'll read your arguments for spending them in Venice, and then I'll decide . But probably, I'll leave them at home. Especially, as it's money for my end-exams party I am responsible for. I just took some notes (old ) to Malta to extend their life expectancy, not to travel around with them ( in exchange).Ewri wrote:GWR7007, Are you spending your Malta notes in Venice?
As you might see, if you look at my profile, you'll see that I'm 17 years old, and the trip to Venice is with my family, so visiting banks won't be on the agenda, but more sightseeing and other things you do as tourists. And my parents don't know about my changing actions on Malta... another negative point of it . I am happy, that they keep every note they get to let me enter it on EBT but bank changing tours or spending the Malta notes would be too much, I'm afraid .
Anyway, if anyone of you knows good sightseeing attractions in Venice that are a visit worth ("value for money" localities, museums you must have visited, etc.), please tell me. It'll only be a short stay (Wednesday (arrival, 23.10) to Saturday (26.10.; early departure, so not really a day that counts), so we cannot visit everything.

Re: Comments from/to non-Italian forumers
Ehm... Venice is quite expensive.
The first thing to visit is St. Mark's square with all these monuments to visit:
DO NOT TAKE COFFE TEA OR ICE-CREAM IN ST. MARK'S SQUARE because it is very, very very very expensive! BUT if you and your family would like to join the experience to sit and taste a cup of good caffè in the most beautiful square of the world, well, it is your choice. In this case I suggest Caffè Florian or Caffè Quadri.
For young people I suggest to visit Hard Rock Cafè, few minutes walk rightside from Procuratie. Anyway McDonald's is on the way to reach the Rialto Bridge.
Islands: Burano, Murano, Torcello: with public-transportation-boat (ACTV) single ticket (€12,00 p.P.) you can visit all the islands of the Venetian Lagoon in 12 hours. I suggest to visit only these ones, because the most popular. Otherwise € 20 p.P. for a 24-hours ticket.
Anything else? Any museum? Any church? Any island? It is your own choice, because there is too much to see and only two days at your disposal...
Let me know if you want some help. Ciao.

- Campanile of San Marco = € 8,00 p.P.
- Palazzo Ducale = € 13.00 p.P.

Re: Comments from/to non-Italian forumers
I am aware of the fact that Venice is not very cheap (but other European cities are expensive as well) But as we didn't go on summer holiday, the budget can be (partially) spent in Venice. And if the money my parents will take from home is not enough, I'd be the last to prevent them from going to an ATM.sen-chuan wrote:Ehm... Venice is quite expensive.
Thanks a lot for the information you gave me.sen-chuan wrote:Anything else? Any museum? Any church? Any island? It is your own choice, because there is too much to see and only two days at your disposal...
Maybe you could tell me whether you know any museums and churches a tourist should have seen. As there isn't anything planned yet, several options wouldn't be bad. Additionally, you don't have to rely on good weather and you can be flexible, if a queue should be too long.

The inner of St.Mark's basilica is really beautiful, I deeply suggest it to you.
And also the island of Torcello is a great place: I deeply recomand it to you
By the way, another good thing to do in Venice is... just walking between little streets (sing: calle, plur: calli) and channels (sing: rio, plur: rii) enjoyng the views.
A typical walk is the area of Rialto.

Re: Comments from/to non-Italian forumers
As Claudio said, walking between the calli you'll pass many churches: just stop and open the doors, perhaps you can visit and could see sculptures and artworks inside them.
Museums: in St. Mark's square there 's the Doge's Palace with visit to the Bridge of Sighs from inside, Museo Correr and Biblioteca Marciana (Library). As I can read from web site:
A single ticket valid for the Doge’s Palace and the combined itinerary of Museo Correr, Museo Archeologico Nazionale and Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana.
This ticket is valid for 3 months and grants one single admission to the Doge’s Palace and the combined itinerary.
Full price Ticket: 16,00 euro
At the island of Murano I suggest the Glass Museum (€ 8,00).
Remember to ask Family or Student's fare for saving your budget!
Ok, I think you'll return home with a bad headache ....
