I'm coming Saturday and / or Sunday ... but:
I can not book a hotel if I do not know what the program is.
If necessary, I can also commute the few kilometers from home.

Attention!
Because of a demonstration at 13:30 on Saturday at the Marienplatz, we should leave the Marienplatz area at about 12:30! We will watch the bell play at the Rathaus at 12:00 a.m., and then we will leave the central square rather quickly, so we won't get into the crowd of the demonstration.
Just for your information!

The last time I was in Germany Volksbank ATMs were the ATMs of choice for trackers, because they allowed to withdraw fivers. What's the recommendation nowadays?

I just forwarded this question into #ebt.de as this is highly dependend on the region.
The answer I got:
- No Volksbank in Munich, but you can try the "Münchener Bank"
- Sparkasse depends on the software version of the ATM, but they might offer the possibility to choose the values
Within Germany, Bavaria tends to be a bit different

Yes, "Münchener Bank" is very good to withdraw money. You can choose the nomination you want. (You have not to be a custumer of the bank!). Normally you can get . Some ATMs have and as well.
Oudside the city there are Genossenschaftsbank, VR-Bank and Raiffeisenbank. They are similar to Münchner Bank.
Stadtsparkasse and Kreissparkasse has or - it depends on the ATM. At most ATMs you can choose the nomination. (I think you not have to be a customer.)
Commerzbank ATMs are different. Available nominations are - it depends on the ATM. You also can choose the nomination, but maybe you have to be a customer.
Deutsche Bank is like Commerzbank, but only .

Re: W-EBTM 2019 Munich (22nd to 24th of March) - General Information
Thanks for the hints! I went for a quick evening walk to see what I can find.
Apparently some Sparkasse ATMs have fivers and others don't. Those ATMs let me specify the total amount to be withdrawn, but I was unsure if there would have been a "choose the desired denominations" selection after the amount, so I aborted the transactions and ended up not withdrawing anything from the Sparkasse ATMs.
Bank für Sozialwirtschaft ATMs near Karlsplatz (Neuhauser Str.) would have let me withdraw 60x10e.
But Münchner Bank ATMs are the best. The first one I ran into was on Sonnenstrasse, a bit south-east from the central railway station. The Ein-/Auszahlung ATM let me withdraw 140x5e (700e) at once. I tried to withdraw another 140x5e, but apparently the machine ran out of fivers and I "only" got 97. Walking around more, I saw that there were several such Ein-/Auszahlung machines at a Münchner Bank near Frauenplatz (Augustinersstr.) but that place was closed. Maybe I'll go there tomorrow morning. Close to that bank was another Münchner Bank ATM, at Sattlerstrasse. This was an ordinary ATM, but to my surprise it also had fivers and it let me withdraw fivers in 60x batches. I took a few of those 60x batches until I reached my daily withdrawal limit. I'll get the rest tomorrow.

Re: W-EBTM 2019 Munich (22nd to 24th of March) - General Information
Although I cannot attend the meeting (and to be fair haven't ever been to Munich myself, therefore the information I provide might be wrong), I'd like to add a word or two about the Sparkasse especially.
Even though they are regionally organised, my experiences with ATM's in another German town showed that you have to be a customer to get a choice for notes. A while back you could not freely choose notes (just a sort of more smaller or more larger notes) however this has changed to a system similar to the Volksbank recently. Again, I have only seen (and tested) it in a couple of Sparkasse branches in the German member state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Whether they also have the new software in Bavaria is something I don't know. However, I assume that you can use the free choice when being a customer of any German Sparkasse. With my Dutch card I wasn't able to choose notes.
The Commerzbank ATM's work fine (with free choice of notes) with my Dutch card at least. On the German speaking part of the forum, we have a thread about the Commerzbank branches because customers of this bank can change notes at deposit/pay-out ATM's (as non-customer you can't do this; or to say I couldn't do so with my Dutch card), so this list might help to find the ATM's with the right denominations inside
