Meeting postponed due to the current situation.


We're excited to organise the W-EBTM 2020 for you in Luxembourg on 28 and 29 March. We, that is Crazy Bob and MDeen.

Please follow this topic as it will be updated with new information when we have something to share.

The general schedule will be roughly the same as previous international meetings: a pre-meeting dinner on friday for the early arrivals, some sightseeing on saturday and sunday morning, and have a drink and something to eat together.

Getting around in Luxembourg
The plan is still that public transport will be free from March 1st. You can use mobiliteit.lu to plan your trips.

Getting notes
ATM's generally dispense and with some also . ING also dispensed 3 x in one transaction and recently some ING branches dispense up to 50 . I don't know if all of them do, but the branches in Diekirch, Weiswampach and Wiltz are confirmed.

Program for the W-EBTM 2020

We will make a Whatsapp and a Signal group for quick communication, if you want to join the group then send MDeen or myself a message with your phone number. Of course we will also put all relevant information on the forum.

Friday
For people arriving on friday and who want to hang out, meet up at a restaurant on the Place d'Armes or in a bar nearby.
Location to be decided.

Saturday
Morning: Visit the lovely town of Vianden. To get there we will take the train and the bus:
8:25 depart Luxembourg Gare Centrale train RB 13508 to Ettelbruck
8:28 stop Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg (north side of the city)
9:05 arrive Ettelbruck
9:18 depart Ettelbruck bus 570
9:43 arrive Vianden, Bréck
In Vianden we will visit the castle of Vianden. Entrance € 5,00 for groups 15 or larger. Warning: the way to the castle does go up 70 meters and is by foot.
If you have your car with you and want to drive, best place to park is the parking at 99 Grand-Rue, Vianden.

Midday: Return to Luxembourg.
Free time for lunch and visit to ATM's, for example the ING in Ettelbruck.
Buses back to Ettelbruck from Vianden, Bréck every half hour at 13 and 43 minutes past the hour, arriving in Ettelbruck 27 minutes later. For example 12:43 depart Vianden, 13:10 arrival Ettelbruck.
Train from Ettelbruck to Luxembourg 13:17, 13:26 and 13:56 and every hour after that, arriving 29, 42 and 42 minutes later. For example 14:17 depart Ettelbruck, 14:46 arrival Luxembourg.

Afternoon:
15:30 Guided tour of Luxembourg city, about 2 hours walking tour.
Cost: € 110,00 for the whole group, meeting point Place Guillaume II.

Evening:
Around 19:00, dinner at a restaurant near Place d'Armes.

Extra reminder: This weekend the time will change to "Summer Time".

So: Don't forget to change your alarm clock and watch, otherwise you'll arrive one hour late at the meeting at Sunday.

Nothing set in stone yet. We might go for brunch somewhere, but having brunch appears to be quite an expensive hobby in Luxembourg...

Let's wait and see whether the meeting can take place at all or whether it has to be postponed because of Corona.

I was contacted yesterday by the Luxembourg tourist office asking me about the nationality of the people attending the city tour. The lady told me it was a government requirement at that point, not a start to block such events. But indeed the situation can progress and there is no saying how it will look like in two weeks time.

For now, let's just keep our wits about us and not forget that the common flu also kills 100.000's every year. Just do what you need to do to keep healthy.

The problem is that this virus is much more infectious than a flu, also because it has an high incidence of asymptomatic healthy carriers. The danger is also indirect, because after rapid expansion puts the state health system under extreme pressure.

I advise not to underestimate it and to suspend the meeting.

"Status 3" is beginning in France at midnight. No shop will be open except foodshops, pharmacies, gas stations, tobaco shops and Banks. All people over 70 will bé obliged to stay at home, it's strongly advised not to make unnecessary travels. I don't even know about crossing the borders.

I will definitely come to Luxembourg unless they cancel all trains and close the borders.
I am fed up with all the panic news and expert statistics.
