It might be very soon to you (the Winter meeting 2020 hasn't started yet), but some may already be thinking about the Summer EBT Meeting of this year.

In this topic, you can volunteer to organize Summer EBT Meeting 2020. This topic will be closed on 8th of March 2020 (around 17:00 GMT / 18:00 CET / 19:00 EET), so the BoD can start to discuss about the candidates in March. But advice: don't wait until end of February with discussing and to look for possible volunteers with organizing, you might be ending the only organizer.

To avoid problems with the time for organising the Winter EBT meeting 2021, the BoD wisches the Summer meeting to be organized not too late.
The period suggested would be in the summer (from July to September), with the suggestion of August.

Requirements/conditions/guidelines for organizers:
  • Two organizers or more. One will be appointed as the main organizer
  • The main organizer is at least 21 years old
  • The main organizer should be able to communicate in English
  • At least one of the organizers should have participated in an official international Eurobilltracker meeting
  • At least one of the organizers should live in or know the city where the event will take place very well
  • At least one of the organizers should have organized a national EBT meeting
Requirements/conditions/guidelines for candidate city:
  • The city should have a certain touristic appeal. International EBTM participants will stay for more than one day and they should be able to see more things than they will see on the meeting day.
  • The city should be located near an international airport.
  • The city should have a railroad station, preferable an international railroad station
  • There should be youth hostels nearby where people can stay cheap
  • There should be a few restaurants which are able to have a large group of people eating there or two/three restaurants located near each other which can handle some smaller groups.
Remember this a checklist. If a candidate doesn't match all of these conditions, it still can be a candidate to organize an official international eurobilltracker meeting.
Still, the more requirements a candidate-organizing team has, the more credibility the candidacy has.

Candidates place your candidacy here in this thread before 8th March.
If you do so, give us:
  • The name(s) of the organizing team;
  • The city you want to organize Summer EBTM20 in;
  • The dates that you can organize it; a detailed schedule of the event is not needed, the big lines are appreciated.
Please, keep this thread for candidates only!

There has no reaction been yet.

The deadline now shifts to Sunday 19th April. So please think about organizing the summer Meeting.

If you want to, you don't have to wait to post until the final day of the deadline, but you CAN post sooner.

It's not sure what the Corona-situation will be in August/September.
And especially if you want to make reservations, you probably will need to start in June/July.

There might still be some restrictions in travelling.

Therefor it's decided it's not a good idea to set up an organization for a fysical meeting (which might be needed to be postponed).

But there were some ideas for another kind of meeting.
Watch this forum for more information.

An International Virtual Meeting has been suggested in the last BoD meeting.

Problems to solve:
  • who? I can be the main organizer, but I will ask for help from other EBTors.
  • what? My tentative program is down below. I will love to have suggestions before creating a "General information" forum post.
  • "where"? I suggest Zoom, but there may be other options. If you have experience with teleconference software, I need your help or at least suggestions, as soon as you can, because this will be crucial in order to understand if the whole idea is feasible.
  • when? I suggest some Sunday in August, to give the organizers time to prepare the whole event, and the participants time to adhere. Also, the whole meeting can take place in one 2- to 3-hour session, or in two sessions in consecutive days at different times, to accommodate for most people's schedules. After the last three questions are broadly answered, I will create a "Choose the date" forum post as usual.

Here's my tentative program:
  1. Short Presentations with an unexpected and engaging question (nothing too personal, of course). To be alternated with other points in the program. We should write a script for this, starting with real life name and EBT username.
  2. Game: a quiz about Euro banknotes and Europe. I will be glad to create this. I'm thinking of using Google Forms but I'll be glad if anyone has better suggestions.
  3. Q&A with specialists from several areas. I will invite specialists, hoping they can and are willing to join and answer questions. If you're a specialist yourself, please apply! The areas I'm thinking of, and which I have knowledge myself in: numbering systems (with giulcenc?), rare and valuable plates (with A0000001A?), games on the forum (with their creators), statistics software (with their developers), public serials and faking (with ErGo?)
  4. Video show, with official videos of cash cycle and production of banknotes and paper for banknotes.

Lmviterbo,

Thank you for your idea.

The board discussed it and likes your idea to have a virtual meeting.

Maybe it's a good idea to open a new topic to organize this?
