EBTM07: Who gets to organise...
Hey,
Organising an official international meeting is something that is very important to our community. It brings people together from all over Europe who share the same hobby and the same passion. On past meetings, new friendships started which probably will last a lifetime.
Since the EBTM07 poll started it has been a very turbulent time in our EBT-Community. Many emotions came above between national forums, between organising teams, between people even between friends, even to the point that some harsh words have been said.
Because we are heading in the wrong direction that we as a community would like to go in, the main candidate organisers and Avij and me have decided to end the poll for EBTM07 to prevent further discussions that is causing harm to our community.
Since both candidate-cities are really good candidates and still eager to organise the event and the fact that most ebters don’t actually really mind where the event takes place, we have decided to let random luck decide for this year. Next year we will rethink the whole process.
How do we proceed from here?
In 11 eurocountries there is a lottery called “Euromillions”. We will use the results of that drawing to decide which city may organise EBTM07.
Euromillions picks 5 normal numbers and 2 starnumbers. The numbers that EBT will use are the 5 normal numbers. The 2 starnumbers will not be used in our case.
Paris will get numbers 1 to 25, Berlin will get numbers 26 to 50.
The city which gets the most numbers drawn, gets to organise the event.
Do remember the starnumbers don’t count, only the five normal numbers.
When and where can I see the result?
The drawing is tomorrow evening (friday 5 jan 2007) around 22u15.
You can check the exact hours out on this website: http://www.euromillions.be/show.aspx?cu ... =tv/tirage
The numbers you can find here: (Be sure to check the correct date!)
http://www.euromillions.be/show.aspx?cu ... ts/latests
And….
This solution is agreed on by all parties involved and will not discussed any further.

I see in the TV-guide, there is a broadcasting on the Belgian channel "Een" at 23.46.
Is this the same as you mentioned above?
Then I can tell my family, they can see there where my next hollidays will go to (Paris or Berlin).

Countries participating in Euromillions are France, England, Spain, Belgium Luxembourg, Switzerland, Portugal, Ireland and Austria. Actually 9 countries not 11 like mentioned above. It will probably aired in all those countries so you should the schedules of those national televisions. (Probably on state-tv)eddydevries wrote:I see in the TV-guide, there is a broadcasting on the Belgian channel "Een" at 23.46.

Thank you very much, everybody. We will do our very best to organise a memorable meeting for all trackers.
I know that the most important issue for all of you is now the date. Mr. Euro announced earlier that this could be known by January 20, due to the early and unforessen end of this vote it should be possible to fix it even earlier. I think we are ready to start another 7-day poll (yes, we give it another try ) by Tuesday night the latest. It is likely, that it will look like the 2005 poll and that you will be able to pick dates from the end of july till mid August. Remember that we plan some activity that requires us to have the main day on a regular working day (obviously Monday of Friday of course...) so try to spare some more vacation for that purpose as you would have done anyway.
Again, thanks and we hope to see all of you in Berlin this summer!
