For those interested, there will be a virtual EBT meeting tomorrow and Sunday and I'll be presenting this tool. It will be online so there will be no chance to hit from that meeting but everyone is welcome. Here is the program.

Small update of the French map tool
  • Altitudes for Paris, Lyon and Marseille were not included in the stats because only municipal districts were listed. Bug fixed.
  • Added user flag (where the user lives according to EBT)
  • Added data timestamp (for the leader board)
Why not updating your data now? http://ebt.fr.eu.org/form

TA DAA!!!

The new super Map of french municipalities tool has been updated and is now online at the same address: http://ebt.fr.eu.org/ I spent all my lockdown nights to redesign it from scratch in react and the result is here: everything is just the same… but I hope it will be quicker, more maintainable and -let's dream about it- translatable… I still have to integrate the map though which is still the old version.

Some of the new stuff:
- Quicker to load geographic data
- Better access to the leaderboard with the list of all people who submitted their notes so far (+ a few well known players from the original 36860 communes game.), their game score and maps.
- There is is a nice France icon that I drew just for you
- If you fix problems by saving a location name, your score is updated instantly, quicker
- Duplicates municipalities (with different names) are not problems any more, they are listed separately
- Did I mention it's quicker?

Now it's time to wish we can all travel again and get to France to feed this tool with more notes.

I fixed a few bugs after Launch (merci kleman for reporting them) and I decided to share the code of this tool with you. So this is available here: https://gitlab.com/aloxe/36860

Those who don\t read code can also use the link to report bugs or send feature request. But you may also do it here.

Others might just want to use it for the first time and appear in the Leader board http://ebt.fr.eu.org/list

Update of http://ebt.fr.eu.org/ :

This is not only an update of the top left image, I improved the way I remember you when you upload your data. Because I save a cookie with your EBT ID, I also let you accept or refuse this cookie any time. If you accept it you will be able to edit your errors any time during a month by returning to your scores via the leaderboard. If you refuse to save this cookie, you'll have to uploaad your note CSV file each time you want to work on it.

Talking about the leaderboard, have you seen that the leader of the game has now uploaded his results wih 5072 communes! Beat that! I am happy to announce that he didn't crash the site by doing so.

NOW QUESTION FOR YOU: What should I work on for the next updates?
  • refactor the map with react too (and allow better loading and navigation)?
  • work on translations?
  • look for the next french municipality and census update to be ready next year?

Happy New Year 2021 to all
I really hope you will soon be able to travel to France and Luxembourg again.

I updated the app online with latest updates and the following bugfixes:
- area data updated with municipalities as of 2019 (instead of 2016)
- correct display of the city with the largest and smallest area
- added participants to the game Classement "36860 communes" in the app's leaderboard.

You will need to upload your csv file again to calculate take the new (and correct) area. Even if you don't have new entries in France.

Hi all, I am in the process of redesigning the map of all municipalities in France. You may want to test the future version now and it is possible at this address: https://ebt-36860-git-save-visited-alox ... dashboard/

there is still a lot to do but I am already open to remarks and suggestions.

A small update done today gives a nicer interface and a better display on phone screens. Check it there: https://ebt.fr.eu.org/

For the next update I'd like you to give me which feature you'd like to add on this page. Fill the poll here: https://framadate.org/bxwUdktjGEW5wTG6

did you notice that https://ebt.fr.eu.org/fr/ is now available in French? If you don't read french you can still switch back to english https://ebt.fr.eu.org/en/ Other languages can be available if you help with translation ;-)
