EBT ACCOUNT CLOSED DOWN

Post by Phaseolus »

Very bad news : I got today a "lettre recommandée" (registered letter) by the Crédit Agricole d'Île-de-France, annoucing that you decided to close down our bank account !

I went immediately to the bank and the director explained that (pick out the argument you want to believe) :
- Their regional office decide to close down the bank account... I am only applying what they are telling me.
- The bank account was opened without seeing the President...
- We do not want to have to deal with the association...
- You receive too much money from foreign countries (to which I replied that it is all money from European countries ?????)

I was furious and asked to empty the bank account. I admit I asked the money in cash (778,83€).

Now the bank account will still be open for 45 days ; if someone has already sent money ; it will normally reach the bank account.

UNTILL WE HAVE FOUND ANOTHER SOLUTION, PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY NEW MONEY TO THE BANK ACCOUNT. PLEASE ADVISE YOUR RESPECTIVE NATIONAL FORUM !

PS : sorry I had to delete two messages , as I made a mistake in posting as a general announcement...

Early next week, I'll try to open a bank account in a Belgian Bank.
Wondering how they react and how 'European' they'll be....- (A French Association, with European members and a Bank account in Belgium???
I'll keep you informed!

Thank you !

When I am back within 10 days, and if no other solution is found, we should think of opening the bank account at the French Post. But, before being exposed to French administration, I would prefer the idea of a Belgian Bank account...

Not yet...
The question is asked to KBC,
but the employees have a lot other priorities to tackle for the moment..
(I am happy I still get my notes to enter on EBT)
But they promised me an answer very soon...

Finally reaction from the bank....(with a lot of excuses and sorrys for the delay due to the turbulent weeks they had to go through..)
Of course, it is just the right time to come with such special request as trust and control are in the scoop for the moment...
Here we go with the demands to open the account.
They need:
1. the public statutes from the association (that is not really a problem I think) - those that have been published.
2. a proof that the association is still actual and functioning (a RCS in France it seems to be called...) Do we have to publish the notes from tha general assembly yearly?
3. They have to see (fysically) the persons who have the financial responsabillity. (as is stated in the statutes.) They have to present themselves with identity card and sign a document in one of their offices...

Then all this stuff goes to the juridical department and we get green or red light....

Voila!

I realise I have been not very much active on that issue :

1. It's true that I have been a bit "stuck" by the reaction of the bank
2. I have ben very busy lately due to my job (by the way, if someone is looking for a job, I have a couple of propositions in my company  , so please send me a PM with you resume)

I will also ask to the French Post Bank whether I can open a bankaccount and under which conditions... But I need to make the first inquiries, first...

I have my doubts that I can provide a RCS for a non-profit association... Therefore, I believe We are going to get stuck somewhere with the KBC...

In fact we have one currency, but the EU is still 'under construction'...
When you see how difficult it is to get a international 'european' bank account...
So lets 'construct' further...

Got a new account already?
If not, maybe it's worth to check out the GLS Bank in Germany, they offer a spezial account-type for "gemeinnützige Vereine" or "eingetragene Vereine" (non-profit association or registered association) and are setup for opening accounts via mail.

"gemeinnütziger Verein" (German) non-profit association (English)

"eingetragener Verein" (German) registered association (English)

Thanks, we will take this into consideration. As a French legal entity the Association is sure not a "e.V." only something simiar.

de-jo and Phaseolus are currently taking care of opening an account.

That's sure right. But it's likely they'll open accounts for associations from other EU-countries, too. Doesn't make much sense writing that on the homepage for a german bank, even if they'd do it, does it?
Maybe a phone call can clear this up. It's worth a try, I guess ...
