Have you ever driven (any vehicle) on the "wrong" side of the road?

Post by Montgomery Burns »

What does that mean?
  • If you live in Portugal and you visit Ireland and drive while there, you are driving on the "wrong" side of the road.
  • And, conversely of course, if you live in Ireland and visit Portugal and drive there, you are driving on the "wrong" side of the road.

I have only visited one territory where I could have done it - the UK - but, in my handful of visits, I never had to drive there. :)

Yes. My first time driving on the wrong (left) side of the road was in Cyprus. Since then, I have driven on the wrong side of the road in Ireland, Northern Ireland and South Africa as well.

Oh, yes. In 1993-1996 when I was very active with my military airplane spotting hobby I visited the military airbases
RAF Valley, RNAS Culdrose, RAF Manston, RAF Coningsby, RAF St. Mawgan, RAF Fairford, RNAS Yeovilton, RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall.
Driving on the "wrong" side was never a problem, but when I got back from UK I had some times problems with driving on the "correct" side...
