It's kind of a statement against the political problems in Belgium.
1, I don't really get your point : what kind of statement is this ?
2, Looking back to the past always feeds the nationalistic feeling but never really solves any problem...
where's the front? To the left (then you are a black pixel) or to the right (then you are a grey pixel)?
I'm the black one. I counted about 6 black(ish) pixels (and some further more, non black ones) that pictures me. Viewing the picture zoomed by 1600% I look like an astronaut in a black space suite.

I've come to become a Hello Kitty fan, owning your usual things as a couple of HK mugs, a dish, some pairs of socks, an umbrella, a plush, a pair of gloves, a blanket, a towel, my computer desktop wallpaper and theme, some stickers plastered all over my laptop's lid... and of course my avatar here!

Actually it is my employer's laptop, which says it all .
The HK laptop is actually a "computer" for kids Once, when I "tested" one (not a HK version), I got a good laughter. There was a spelling game in one of those laptops for kids. "Tavaa sana: quickstep" (Finnish for "Spell the word: quickstep"). I'd like to see Finnish kids getting frustrated when trying to spell that word. As there are no Finnish words beginning with the letter Q, the company that did the laptop programme translation had to use an easy spelled English word

Tarmo changed the avatar. It's a cropped part of the 1938 Helsinki map showing Tarmonkatu (Tarmo's Street). The street no longer exists, but there's a nearby alley named Tarmonkuja.
