I already guessed so! :)
When I hear or see the word 'Rovaniemi', I automatically think about you !
I never realised it was so northern, until I saw your entry on the EBT map! :p
:) Still over 600 km to North cape (Norkapp) and 2500 km to the North pole. Yes, everything seems to be so far away. Even Helsinki is over 800 km away. Only the Arctic Circle is very close (8 km).
It must be very cold out there!
Yes sometimes it is very cold, but not today (-7 °C and foggy).
Last week was warm (-3 °C to +5 °C) thanks to the Foehn phenomen (When strong western winds blow over Norwegian mountains the air gets warmer.). Nice weather for skiing. :D

The spring wasn't really coming here after all.
It's been snowing a little a couple of times this week and it is again colder (-5 now, but it was -12 this morning)

:) Well, it has been -20 °C to -35 °C for several months . After that -3 °C doesn´t feel so cold. Even birds felt like spring was coming and started to sing.

Au contraire,
We Canadians we think -20C is very cold especially here in Toronto. With the windchill, oh crap!!!!!!!! Unless you were talking about -20 DEGREES!
If its not in Celsius, of course its nothing :)

Actually, the worse is the wind!! If it's -20°, it can be OK, but usually, when it's -20°, the wind is -35° ...

You feel like your skin is freezing... you think you have something in the nose, but it's only frozen air... the people with contact links and fragile eyes know that -35° hurts...

Anyway... Today is march 1st... and its snows (again and again) in Montreal. I called my parents (in Paris) this morning. The first flowers have grown up in the garden... :o
I wish the Spring came soon ! :(

Hello bhoeyb and other animal observers - Annie's adventures in the wild nature continue: last weekend I was rollerblading along the canal from Brussels (Anderlecht) towards Halle. The weather was sunny and rather warm. On my way I saw several birds, for instance two black swans, a swallow, a Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus), some sort of a cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo?) plus some bunny rabbits.

Oh yes, and another rare sight was a real shepherd. He was walking with a herd of 5-6 goats and about 20 sheep, and he had a large white dog as well. The sheep were happily grazing the lush green grass by the canal, walking slowly towards the south. Brussels really is a city of contrasts!

And today we got some more snow!

Now it feels like spring is coming. Today it has been sunny and +15 °C. :D
I saw a butterfly for the first time this year.
I think it was this one:Image

It was also nice to see the first spring bulbs blooming: crocuses, tulips (Tulipa tarda), and Chionodoxa. :)

But there is still a lot of snow in the forests. (Snow depth)
Unfortunately it is going to be cold again. At the end of the week it can snow and be below -10 °C in the nights. :?
