I know the anthem
"Ben ik van Duytschen Bloed"
BTW when the Belgians had princess Elisabeth a few years ago was it also on the front page,
because our royal family has its origin in Germany to (Von Saksen Coburgh-Ghota)

You're correct. First lines of the Dutch national anthem:nodisch18 wrote:That sentence actually just means: "I'm from dutch blood"
William of Nassau, scion
Of a Dutch and ancient line,
Dedicate undying
Faith to this land of mine.
A prince I am, undaunted,
Of Orange, ever free,
To the king of Spain I've granted
A lifelong loyalty.

I could only find this one:
The other one I read I couldn't find a picture for. Haagsche Courant
I'm ashamed to say I've only read the two I subscribe to. I should really have checked out many more - nothing to do with the princess, though.

Yup, and William of Orange wás born in modern-day Germany, though he did spend a lot of time as a youngster at the court of Charles V in Brussels, of course.!Pretfles! wrote:in its origin duytsch

At that point in time there wasn't that much of a national divide between the European élite. The division ran between nobility and commoners.

since you read it, please explain that title about Pessoa's sexuality.. I tryed the on-line version, but I don't have a Sapo conection.. so I can't open that news..BogPoet wrote:This is the newspaper I read most often (it will probably be a dead link tomorrow):

PS: this newspaper, Diário de Notícias, shares it's Saturday's magazine with my Jornal de Notícias, it's called Grande Reportagem, and it's probably the best portuguese news magazine, unfortunetly I couldn't find any picture on-line..

It's simply an interview with Richard Zenith about a book which came out recently, which explores sexuality in Pessoa's work. It's a nice read, but nothing ground-breaking.BossaNova wrote:Since you read it, please explain that title about Pessoa's sexuality.. It is the oldest existing song, but it is our anthem since 1932, before it wasnodisch18 wrote:BTW, our anthem is the oldest song still in use as an anthem!
"Wien Neerlandsch bloed door d'aadren vloeit, van alle smetten vrij",

being racist...
