There were no people with my surname in Netherlands. There was one in Belgium but 'misspelled' without the dots.

My surname is Finnish.

As far as I remeber correct, here are about 3000 people with my surname in Finland. There are also some in Sweden and USA (without the dots again).

My name:

France: 0
The Netherlands: 0
Belgium: 1 :)

There's a similar service for Finland:

http://192.49.206.69/sukunimi/sukunimi.asp

First choose time frame of birth, type your name and press 'HAE'.
The map and top 3 cities or communes will be displayed. If there's 'ULKOMAAT' displayed in results, it means that those are foreigners moved to Finland.

There are 422 people with the same surname as I in The Netherlands, 2 in Belgium. I know there are also quite a few whose ancestors have emigrated to the USA - though not any direct relatives, unfortunately, would have been nice for holidays, wouldn't it?

I do not remember clearly which are the most popular first names in Germany. Linguists see, however, that for several years now names from the Holy Bible are increasing in popularity.

The most common surname, I think, is Schmidt (Schmitt), closely followed by Schwar(t)z, Müller, Krause, Lehmann, Schulz(e).

In Northern Germany, Jansen or Jensen are quite common. In Bavaria, Huber pervades a lot.

I don't think the system works really fine because when I try my own name, I don't see a color near my place.

At least in Helsinki there have been some before 1945.
