I think we have no more a (actice) city manager from Finland.
What I see that we have a city profile for Suomenlinna and no city profile for Mellunmäki
Mellunmäki is a quarter in Helsinki, and Suomenlinna is now a part of Helsinki but was a civil administration area in the past.
For that reason I can understand that there is a city profile for Suomenlinna and not for Mellunmäki.

For the moment I leave it like this. Whe shell see what other people think about this.

If you can accept an opinion from someone who has lived in Helsinki for the past 20 years, here's what I can tell you:

Suomenlinna is a city district of Helsinki, just like Mellunmäki, Itäkeskus, Kallio, Alppila, Töölö etc. Having a separate city profile for either Suomenlinna or Mellunmäki would be plain wrong. The correct locations would be 00190 Helsinki for Suomenlinna, and 00970 Helsinki for Mellunmäki (probably; there could be more postal codes than just that in use in Mellunmäki).

While we're at it, the correct location for the Helsinki-Vantaa airport is 01530 Vantaa. Some people who were in the meeting may have entered notes from there as well.

lmviterbo wrote:Twelve years ago, I obtained some notes at Le Prieuré, in Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault, a "city" (commune ≈ municipality/parish, in fact) that was the result of at least two merges of several former ones (Chênehutte, Les Tuffeaux, Trèves, Cunault, maybe more). In 2016, it became a "commune déléguée" of Gennes-Val-de-Loire.

EBT city-admins / managers already dealt with this: they created this new city profile (Gennes-Val-de-Loire) and subsumed Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault as its child-locations.

I like to keep my database as clean and correct as possible. So I have a question: according to the Frencg city manager rules, should I change the "city" on my notes to "Gennes-Val-de-Loire"? Or, instead, is it better to keep this way, so that historical locations are also there?

In France, many new "communes" are created since few years, but the former locations are still existing as "village", "hameau" or "commune déléguée"
( https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commune_nouvelle )
My opinion is to keep the old name for the past notes, but if you go now in this commune, you can use the new big name.
If you want, you can use the old names for more precision, it's not a mistake :)

The new commune of Gennes Val de Loire is the merge of Gennes, Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault (an old new commune), Grézillé, Saint-Georges-des-Sept-Voies and Le Thoureil :wink:

I would do it like that, too. Let them be merged in the database, but keep the 'old' name for precision. How likely is it that people will change the way they write their adresses, btw?

One of the many child locations [namely Oude-Tonge (3255 LH)] had inadvertently ran away to the following coordinates: 51.7076, 51.7076. That single point vacationing near the Ural Mountains skewed the average coordinates a lot to the east.

Fixed. I brough that location back to where it belongs in 51.7076, 4.2409.

Thanks for alerting us.

Bucureşti already had a dot. Whenever any non-official name is registered, it has to be added manually by one of us.

You should see the dot now. Thanks for helping us keeping the database clean.

My parents have been on a dothunt holiday, and so far, two dots are missing:

1. Rousseville: 48.909, -1.113;
2. Puente de Montañana: 42.150, 0.693.

Rousseville doesn't exist, or it's only a "lieu dit", it's a part of the commune of Gouvets

And four more:

Bello: 40.923, -1.507;
Mas Jacinto: 40.128, -1.253;
Villagarcía del Llano: 39.327, -1.851;
Orce: 37.720, -2.478.

I have changed Rousseville to Gouvets (it doesn't matter for the dot).

In Morocco, two towns need merging:

Boumalne-Dadès :arrow: Boumalne Dadès/بومالن دادس
Meknès :arrow: Meknès/مكناس‎

Two towns are new:

Errachidia/الرشيدية: 31.920, -4.440
Midelt/ميدلت: 32.684, -4.741

Done. The rest of your new places should be plotted by local plotters within about 48 hours.
