Graag gedaan, googlejapsgooglejaps wrote:Thanks for letting me know I got a nice hit with wally2cv, I didn't see it in the site yet.
As said before, the most important problem is not really to introduce a wrong short code (yes, everybody can make errors - as said also before) BUT the fact that a Hit is occured only by matching the serial number and (perhaps ?) the note's value.googlejaps wrote:I agree with you that the short code is important, and an EBT'er should always strive to fill this information correctly. I always check the short code, but as has been said before, every human can make mistakes.
Sorry but I agree completely the point of view of Dominic38 - and not only for statistical reasons.googlejaps wrote:I think a percentage of 1,92% is an acceptable error rate for this situation
Aaaaaaaaaaah !? The short code, even if it's not a unique data (you can found the same short code into millions of notes ), can, in the majority of cases, CONFIRM the serial number's good information.googlejaps wrote:I think adding the short code to the criteria to determine a hit is a bad idea. Mainly because the short code is not a property of a note that makes it unique.
As said just below by myself - thanks for the confirmation.googlejaps wrote:The properties of a note that uniquely identifies them are the serial number and the denomination. These are the only properties needed to determine that I had the same not as wally2cv.
But at this time, it was possible to contact the Support Team by mail and expose the problem : in several cases, (I think that) the Support Team made the corrections to get good data.googlejaps wrote:I think back to the time when the website did use the short code. The system sometimes rejected a note and the user would get a message like: "This note is entered in the system before by another user, but you used the incorrect short code". So then you know it is a hit, and (after checking that you entered the correct shortcode) you know that the other user entered the wrong short code, and you can only make a hit when you guess the short code the other user entered.
A positive initiative here : the Cleaning Girls !googlejaps wrote:Finally, your argument for improving database quality is valid, however I would point out to you that the quality of the data is very high in EBT compared to other sites. There are lots of measurements that make sure that the quality stays high. Which is one of the reasons that EBT is so succesful.
Another positive initiative that can be taken into EBT : a team who compares the short code and the serial number AND makes corrections if needed. If it's possible to do automatically this matching into other tracking websites, why not here ? It can improves more the database quality.
Well-known EBTers, from several countries, introduce also their notes into this site.mico wrote:maybe maarsy, Europa28, joergb30, Angelino and BGO do they insert banknotes in EuroTracer
1) I have NEVER said that eurotracer's website has the better automatic matching between serialnumber and shortcode ! Yes, it's not perfect BUT if it exists there...so, WHY NOT HERE !?ErGo wrote:Oh, did you mean this website with the better "automatic matching between serialnumber and shortcode " introduction?
Fortunatly for us, there are still enough errors in their data
2) Who make errors in their data, ErGo ? Have you check (just once) the guys with the biggest number of errors into EuroTracer ? No ? Into this, there are two guys with a very huge "bad record" number of errors : there are...two EBTers who ALSO make the same errors here, into EBT ! So...Where's the quality improvement here, into EBT ?
3) Another thing : why not presenting the serial number like into several threads of EBT-Forum : X123******* and not X***4567**** ? And...why not presenting the whole short code ? It would be great to do this, into EBT, and I am sure that this data's presentation can be benefic for (existing) EBTers and for (future new) EBTers
4) Do you know that several guys send directly and regularly to the webmaster of this site a lot of informations to improve database quality and automatic matching quality ? One of these persons is... a guy who have written - and who will produce a new opus soon - the best books about €€€-notes.
So...yes, each tracking website has its qualities and its defaults BUT yes, each tracking website can improve ergonomy's quality, database quality, information searching quality...
