Stamped notes

Today I got a German 10 euro note that was stamped. Unfortunately I can´t read what is written on it.
It is very faint and most letters are missing.
I think it is in German. I can only read

.................
78 AB...................ungen

I got this as a change in a supermarket this evening and most customers there were foreign tourists. I also saw a German bus from Berlin nearby. I had high hopes that it was stamped by a German tracker. Unfortunately it wasn´t. :(

Anyway this hasn´t been taken out of circulation. If somebody do stamp url on his / her notes, you better use permanent ink so that the text won't faint.

BTW Have you seen any stamped notes?

This could be "78 Abbildungen" (78 images) or "78 Abendzeitungen" (78 evening news) or "78 Abtreibungen" (78 abortions). Cryptic German can have many meanings 8)

Anyway - interesting that you got a stamped note. Can you scan it and put it on the net?

BTW: I would like to have a gallery of interesting looking notes at ETB

Unfortunately I cannot scan it.
I could try to get a digcam picture of it. I will let you know if I can get a good picture. Maybe I can then send the picture of it by e-mail to somebody, that could show it on some website. :)

BTW I think there are more words between Ab ... ... ungen

Yes, I did. Even yesterday ... it was one from Italy.

I think sometimes a bank puts a stamp on the 'lias' (paper around a bundle of banknotes). Sometimes, they stamp the first banknote too :D .
Yesterday I had one from Italia. A part of the stamp was '..alia' and 'banco'.

In the past, I had a German note with a Luxembourg stamp and a Belgian note with a Belgian bank stamp.
Others I can't remember :? .

So maybe it is a stamp like that. I haven't ever seen any on Finnish notes.

Now I have taken a picture of it. I am afraid the quality is not good. So let me now, if somebody can put the picture on the net so it can be seen here. :)

I have had a German €5 note with "Carlos 2002 Leipzig" stamped on it.
I hoped I would get a hit with that person who lives probably in Leipzig,
but unfortunately I didn't :( .

Thanks wouter! :D

As you can see it is impossible to see what is written on it.
Is it possible that that a 'lias' would have been on the middle of the stamp. The upper parts of some letters, before ...ungen are missing. Is it possible that the 'lias' was around that part of the note? How wide that paper usually is?

Yes, I think it was a lias. A Belgian one is about 2 fingers wide. I'll post a picture of some Belgian lias as soon as possible.

YEs, that's funny.
I know someone who has (name)@heeftgeenemail.nl (heeftgeenemail is dutch translation of 'hasnoemail' (has no e-mail) (or doens'thaveemail

I don't say what that (name) is, because it's possible that some people come here and send all sort of spam to all the adresses they can find.

That's a good idea! Many banknotes have funny marks on it. Then we can speculate about what it meansm, where it was put on the note etc. etc.
