Increasing the circulation life of Euro notes

Post by JHN-TX »

I saw this hit yesterday http://en.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=31099790" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and it got me thinking :idea: about ways of prolonging the circulation life of euro notes.
Is there any plastic spray or any other chemical that can be used to increase the "shelf life" of the note , by making the paper a little tougher :?:

:idea: :?: :idea: :!: :?: :? :?

Here is a nice video of a dedicated WG user washing and ironing notes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhPZieBBP3A" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But be careful when ironing euros, I once swept the holographic band off an old wrinkly D/L trying to iron it out.

I must admit that I have ironed a few notes to get rid of small wrinkles. This was only on fairly new notes that needed to be straightened out a little.
WHY :?:
Because the casino will swap all the old notes they have for new ones , but they cannot be too wrinkled as they get jammed in the machines.

I watched the vid with mouth open.
hahaha!

but still,
it looks like a stupid home-ec instruction video, she's actually very smart!
what better way to prolongue the life-expectancy of your bills?

even though we don't have that many worn-out, taped, ragged bills here in Holland, (they get destroyed as soon as they reach the DNB), it's not such a bad idea after all.
all you need is T-I-M-E.
(and a very EBT-minded brain, and non-fosfatic soap)

A couple of weeks ago, I got a brand new 50 € note. That day was rainy and the note got a little bit soaked - and wrinkled. So, I decided to do some ironing, for the first time as an EBT'er. However, the wrinkles were persistive, so I carefully sprinkled just a little amount of water on the note. Well, the wrinkles did disappear. But the paper surface turned into "waves" and the note looked like crêpe paper. Now I know how that kind of paper is produced :D

Aren't they compressed?
My NIG stats have finally disappeared. My EBTST stats are still available.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only to handle the notes with care. :oops:

My press consists of two levels. The lower one for the (nearly) uncirculated notes that will be brought back to the bank, this plate weighs about 700 g. The second level is for the everyday notes, the top plate should be about 1.8 kg.

Yes, the cupboard below the press may bend. :P

The problem is that my scale is limited to 500g. So I compared the plate with two tetra paks of milk.
