Guy Sohier's "Les Eurobillets" site

Post by salieriFI »

Overall, I think Guy Sohier's website about euro banknotes is pretty good. But there are many things I don't quite understand. Like "L022 holo B", "Pour les positions J1 à J6 = 50 à 100% plus-value", "numéro/position inadéquat", "numérotation 1-5", and "Rappel : numérotation 1 de U01 à U28".

Thank you - Jack - for the few explanations given!
To SalieriF1, I would say that I have recalled on my website some data that appear in my last book.
One or two reminders: Most of the 10€ sheets were in a 9x6 format = 54 notes. Surprisingly and exceptionally, Oberthur (France) used a format reserved for 5€ banknotes, i.e. 10x6 = 60 banknotes. This 10. row thus presents the positions J1 to J6, very uncommon for 10€ banknotes, hence the added value...
For the mention "inadéquat - unsuitable", it is necessary to know that each printer uses a specific numbering for its different prints. But for Oberthur (again!), some numbers found do not correspond to the classic scheme of this printer (from U01 = A6 position to U54 = I1 position) for the 20€. For example A6 was in U06, I1 was in U50 or U53...
All these observed anomalies are part of an in-depth study on Euro banknotes!

Hi !
The asterisks * indicate that the print run was also printed for other countries.
Can you explain to me why this symbol is missing in old 100€ P007/U and P007/X ?

No idea, maybe it's just a mistake. Maybe he forgot to put the asterisks.

Thank you for your interest in my web page!
The asterisks on the 100€ P007 have been forgotten. I have reworked my site several times and some details have been deleted. The server sometimes gives me some trouble...

Also, in 5 €, there's S for Italy missing.

And also I'm wondering, why do some of these spaces between breaks of plate numberings have dots and some don't?

An interesting question about the dots between the breaks in the numbering of tables.

I searched on Google for a complete list of all known euro bills and came across your site. And I really admire him. You have done a truly titanic work. Basically, you created a Bible of Euro bills.

I have replaced the suspension points with the word "unknown". I could have written "not listed" as well. This does not mean that the banknote did not exist, but that it was not discovered. For the 2002 generation banknotes, it can be assumed that the missing prints were the result of technical difficulties, or that they are extremely rare. To cite a few examples, the 20€ H/G007 and H/G008 are known - for the moment - in only one copy, which is incredible for a continental currency !
That's why I consider this study of Euro notes (and the research that feeds it) as exceptional.

Why is there E006 B and E006 holo A? Why not just E006 B and E006 A?
