Here, in Quebec, people also wear gloves. We have had our first snow storm last night. 15cm of snow in front of my door...

But have you ever tried to pay with gloves? :D Quite hard to choose a coin in the bottom of your wallet!

People just take them off. :)

I'm not used to wear them.. in fact I think I don't have any pair of them right now.. I used to have.. but don't know where they are.. I don't have a moto, so.. don't need them....

I got an Irish 5 € note from Rovaniemi airport café. (It was full of Irishmen waiting a flight to Dublin.) I have never ever seen a note in such a bad condition. 8O It is extremely worn, dirty, got some holes, one edge is taped and somebody has written number 75 on it. It was difficult to read the short code. I hope they accept this in a shop. I am afraid Irish notes like this won´t travel long in Finland. Now I am sure nobody will mind if you mark your notes in Ireland.

I've been told that the Egyptian pound notes are usually in a very bad shape and you'd want to wash your hands after you've handled one. I haven't seen them myself, but considering that one Egyptian pound is worth about 20-30 eurocents (I think), it doesn't surprise me that people don't care about those notes that much. There are actually 50 piaster and 25 piaster notes as well (1/2 and 1/4 of one Egyptian pound), I don't even want to think about their condition 8O

Here's one page that I've found: http://www.touregypt.net/money/

I got a Greek 5E bill in so poor condition, the design is illegable while I was here shopping in Paris. The hologram is nearly worn all off. THere are multiple stains, tears and a whole bunch that happened to them.

A good occassion to warm up this old thread... :D

In a bundle of :note-5: from the bank :!: I found those 2:
Image
 No hits, and I don´t think they will live long enough to become one...

Strange, the top one looks like sliced with a scalpel or other very sharp knife.
A while ago I´ve seen a program about modern art where artists had cut €-notes to pieces like this (and they got in trouble for it).

The bottom note was washed together with a red jeans, I guess...

As I said, it was in a bundle that I picked up at the bank - at the private counter for the big sums. And since I don´t count all notes when I receive them I didn´t notice the damage.
Cash machines will certainly not work with such bad notes - especially not the ones where you can pay in money.
But I´m confident to get them refunded at the bank, it´s no big deal for them.

Yes the second one looks funny... Like the girls version of a :note-5: ...
