interesting point with the "2*2*2*" coins, I have been thinking about this issue some days ago, but I have never seen anyone mention this difference before. Anyhow, the Maltese coins will be the first ones that really have the same writing either way you turn the coin. That is because they have the stars replaced by Maltese crosses, which look the same upside down.

But I'm sure the distances between the 2s and the crosses will not all be exactly the same, which can also be found on the 2*2*2* coins, so you can probably find differences between the coins that can tell you which coins are "A" and "B"
Joshu, a Chinese Zen master, asked a cow:
"Do you have Buddha-nature or not?"
The cow answered: "Moo."

oh it's always difficult to find out what these sequences of numbers and letters in your messages mean :P
I know that you Italian people on this forum have a habit to use the symbol "4" not only for the number "four" but also for the word "for", but what does the "x" in the "4 x 08" stand for? Isn't "x" the Italian symbol for the word "for", as in this text:

it means: value note's 25€, only for Lori
Or do you talk about four coins, with "x" being the standard symbol for the word "times"?

No androl , there the " x " it is just a ripetition of "for" u should eliminate :!: so :flag-pt: & :flag-it: will mint for 2008 a 2 € Commemorative Coin for the same thing : that's what I ment.
It will be 4 the 60° anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - I have known phoning to the IPZS section numismatic :flag-it: and from la moneta about :flag-pt: Image_ It is strange  WE never had before
Portugal sure and I think also Italy with the new common side

P.S. :flag-de: 08 is in BCE and no sign of the :flag-fi: 07 - not the ToR , the one 4 independence : BoF will release the coins shortly before the 6 of December , it's the 5 so . . infact I hope to find it in Verona the 7 in a numismatic convention

Okay. So you were just lazy? :)
But anyway, now that you gave me some information on what to look for in it, it might be understandable.

How do you suppose we all could read Italian, anyway?

Nessun problema. Siamo tutti multilinguali qui, e anche ... leggere italiano e assai facile. Capire italiano ... solo quando la gente parla l...e...n...t...a...m...e...n...t...e, hehe.

(Now speaking or understanding Finnish is an entirely different story. )

Most euro countries (10 of 13) started using the new common sides in 2007: Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain.

Austria, Italy and Portugal used the old maps on the 2007 coins. But there are exceptions, like this year's Treaty of Rome commems which have the new map in all member states. The three non-EU countries - Monaco, San Marino and Vatican - basically get what the producing mints make: MC "new", SM+VA "old".

In 2008 all euro countries have to use the "post-enlargement" maps. Which means that Austria, Cyprus, Italy, Malta and Portugal will come with new reverse designs.
