Slovak coins found in circulation OUTSIDE Slovakia

Post by Licht & Feuer » Tue Nov 04, 2008 11:59 am

As the first starter-kits will be available soon, I guess we can already start this topic... so please post here when and where you find €-coins from :flag-sk: somewhere else in the monetary union.

To get it a little graphic, there's a poll includet this time. Unfortunately the maxium of possible answers is limited to 10 so I've grouped some countries where I guess that the chances of finding slovak coins there should be similar.

Guess Austria is not only alphabetical in the pole position this time...

Such a topic exists also for:
:flag-cy: Cyprus
:flag-mt: Malta
:flag-si: Slovenia

Precisely 1 year ago I opened a similar topic for Malta. I am looking very forward to get the Slovakian coins. BTW there’s already a similar thread like this about Slovakian Euro coins.

Ooops, yes... it's already there (I had a look around before opening this topic but only saw the general discussion about the slovakian coins)
Than this thread can become closed of course, one is certainly enough

Actually the Belgian and Dutch coin diffusions are very different, which is quite interesting. According to eurodiffusie.nl , for example Austrian coins are 80% more common in the Netherlands than in Belgium.
That's quite a difference. It almost doubles the amount.

Hehe, so actually this post is an advertisement? I guess most people would have been looking in ebay, anyway :)

Well.. To some extent yes. They will officially be put into circulation on Jan 1st. However, since the starter kits will be there, it is possible obtaining the coins already on Dec 1st. For what _I_ understand, the coins are not legal tender during the first month, though. They look just like euros, but technically speaking you are not allowed to use them as money. They only become money on Jan 1st. Of course, if you bring Slovakian coins to Austria, no shopkeeper is gonna figure out the things are not money yet, but will become money only in a months time..
So, they will be de facto circulating on Dec 1st, although law-technically they become money only on Jan 1st.
However, IANAL.

Then that means you are using intentionally using fake money and can be put into jail for at least 72 years for that!
