Is that an error????

Post by gatoulis » Mon Apr 06, 2009 1:03 am

Hello to all!
Wow! Its been a long time since I wrote here... sorry!

I heard that this year (but I do not know when exactly), Malta and Cyprus will print their first euro banknote! It is going to be a 20 euro note! :) ...Just like Slovenia!

Slovenian 20 euro notes are not often seen! Probably they didn't print many! Well, I have one in my collection! :D

Let's see what we can find in circulation from Cyprus and Malta...when they get printed of course!
If Things will go like the Greek euro notes with the new signature... I have only the 10 euros! I know that there is a 20 euro too, but.... :(

Anyway.... I found this 10 euro banknote! It was given to me as change! It is a greek note! The holographic band is too right, almost at the end of the note! Is that an error? Shall I keep this note? what is your opinion?

I hope the photo will show here!

Hello Jes! :)

You can not see the photo?
It may takes some time (not much), but I can see it!
Sorry I do not know how to make the photo smaller.

What I mean is that I cannot see the right part of the banknote, the foto seems to be trim or something

I changed the size smaller. I think this is normal fluctuation.

Thanks hattiwatti, now I can see it! 8) and... %#@$&!! How useless I am!!! I just realised that I couldn't see it because of the resolution of my computer screen :x :x :x

Anyway, Yeah! I think it should be an error. It looks tad weird. Keep the note!

Perhaps someone with more experience can explain you better... I am rather unusure, but I would keep it! perhaps it is not valuable, but at least it's interesting and curious :D

I think that isn't an error. As you can see in the image below (some :note-5: and some :note-10: as example), isn't unsual what you refer:

Instead I think that's an error: there are many fluctuations, especially on the Greek notes, but this is so wide that I believe exceeds the level of tolerance.

Yes! I agree with you!
There are many fluctations in the metal stripe on the Greek notes, but none was like that!

It is the only one with the metal stripe so close to the right end of the note!
That is why I posted it here, to see if that consider to be an error, and deside what to do with the note... keep it or not! :)

Hi gatoulis,

as a collector of Euro banknotes, I would keep this note as interesting to see, not more.

Unfortunately the note is not too perfect, it is really quite worn, in UNC or almost UNC you could expect a nice premium on the note value of 10 Euro - but not for this one.

Have fun
ye olde

I am always looking for UNC Euro notes of all values up to :note-200: from all Euro countries to swap or to buy - but buying only at face value plus postage
