I know R015/L only in the range of L4155**7 - L4155**8,
so it seems, they are really rare! 8O

Here in Finland it's not a rare note (yet), but your note seems to be in quite good condition. It might be worth of check, but I wouldn't categorize it to valueable notes.

Your note has a bit damage on superior right corner, I think this is not OK by euro note collectors, but if were uncirculated, could have been sold like this: http://www.ebay.es/itm/272392655846

Nice if foreign collectors are interested in those notes, because if you go to a bank in Finland and take some :note-100: , you will very possibly get many D/L-notes. I'm not interested in selling notes if they aren't very valueable, but some people might earn money by getting them "for free" in Finland and selling with a good profit.

Thanks for the replies. I have quite few Finnish :note-50: notes which I heard were more rare than regular :note-50: notes.

The :note-100: I posted before seems to be uncirculated, except the top right corner is folded a bit as you can see from the image. Might give it a shot on eBay. Where are collectors most likely looking notes from ? Are there any rare money collector sites except eBay. :)

Generation one notes. 20e note R032-short code with P-serial -

Post by aplfi »

Hello,
Does anyone has an idea how many :note-20: first generation notes have been printed under short code R032 and P-starting serial. I think there are not that many of those around?

Today, i've got a :note-20: :flag-eu: with XZ as first letters.
Is it frequent ?
Is it a "proof serie" ?

This topic hasn't had many replies…

Just for the record, here's what is probably the most valuable Euro banknote that I ever had. I was lucky to realize immediately that this was one of the very few extra-rare notes in Guy Sohier's catalogue. It's a Z002/ZD :note-20:.

Another rare one found in the wild. I've had some VH notes from the V003 plate but never seen one from the V005 plate.

Here's a calculation that might be of interest to notaphilists: the probability of finding a banknote which serial number is composed of only n different digits:

Code: Select all

# diff digits	probability probability, rounded (1 in)
Europa 2002 series	Europa 2002 series
	 1	0.000000001	1E-10 1 000 000 000	10 000 000 000
	 2	0.000004599	9.207E-07 217 439 1 086 130
	 3	0.00067176	0.000205207 1 489 4 873
	 4	0.01718892	0.0073458 58 136
	 5	0.1285956	0.074611152 8 13
	 6	0.34514424	0.271384344 3 4
	 7	0.3556224	0.386993376 3 3
	 8	0.13608 0.21555072 7 5
	 9	0.0163296	0.04191264 61 24
	10	0.00036288	0.00199584 2 756 501
This assumes that all possible serial numbers have been printed, as well as all possible numbers with wrong check digits, and it also assumes that the numbering schemes are not the convoluted way they are in real life. However, thanks to EBTST and nigmm, I was able to compute these statistics for more than 8 million real notes (entered in EBT by 18 heavy-duty users), and the results are impressively close to these predictions, with deviations of far less than 0.2 percent points for all the figures (12 basis points was the higher I found).

If you're interested in the generic formulae used to compute these numbers (valid and computable for serial numbers of any size, like the 8-digit USD or the 9-digit French francs), follow this link to Prof. Brian Peterson's great answer on Quora to my question "What is the probability that a random n-digit number has exactly k different digits?" In my reply to his answer, you will also be able to see the detailed numbers showing how well the real vs. predicted statistics compare.
