If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Actually it isn't because somebody found a German €2 J from 2005:

It could be a fake. It seems somewhat blurry in the picture, "soft" at the edges and contours. (That could be due to scanning or digicam of course, but I'd suspect a fake first, because generally I have the impression that German coins are quite sharply minted.)

In Novmber 2003 Lux. 2ct coins from 2004 already started circulating, so why
wouldn't it happen with the German €2 2005?

BTW, if it's genuine and someone buys it at ebay for a price higher than 2 €, the buyer might have difficulties convincing people next year or later that it is (or rather, was) a rarity. :D

Edit: Hmm, it seems someone did buy it ...

The photo looks genuine to me. Personally, I only accept a coin as being in circulation when at least 2 people have found it. One coin doesn't mean all that much.

I agree Senior. However there are such a small portion of people posting on this board that we may wait forever for two people to find the same coin.

I was in the bank last week, and someone came in to get some coins. Among the bags he received was one bags of 2005 2c. I guess if I had got some I could have made a bit of money on ebay.
I'm not going to add it to the list yet because I want to actually receive them in proper circulation.

which is strange, because according to the official list of coins published at http://www.bundesbank.de/bargeld/bargel ... hungen.php -> Prägeaufträge Euro-Umlaufmünzen, there should be no 2€, but only 1€ of DE/J with year mark 2005.

@fjon : why not make an edited list of all the 2005 coins we will find ?

@Alex - yes, I plan to do so, so if anyone finds any 2005 coins in circulation, please post them here and I will add them to the list.
@thomas - interesting. I will remove that coin, as it is a bit suspicious. If anyone finds one in circulation we will know for sure.

you don't think that there will be issued only one single type of coin in 2005 :!:
Has the Bundesbank ever published a totally correct coin overview?

Thanks er_fleky, but I was looking for coins that people have found in circulation, and not ones that are bought.

I will add the first coin to this - today I found a 2005 Irish 2c
