Spotting a fake or damaged 10 Eur bill

Post by deWord » Tue Jun 23, 2015 9:09 am

Hi folks.

A coulpe months ago one of my 10Eur bills was rejected by a self serving machine in the local supermarket. The bill looked genuine at first, but after closer inspection the number 10(lower left hand corner, side with the silver band) looked like the ink has "run" (edges on the bill are not sharp - chrisp). Any way I think it would be fun to find out if the bill is indeed fake or damidged.

My question is how do i prove or dissprove that the bill is fake. Because apart from the botched number it is really spot on.

On the website of the ECB you can find several security features to check if your bill is counterfeit or not:
