Don't think so. In Cyprus the design competition ended just two days ago ... Here is a description of what we can expect to see on the coins: http://www.centralbank.gov.cy/nqcontent ... 59&lang=en

the site says;
“The artists must include in the composition the name of Cyprus in Greek, Turkish and English i.e. ΚΥΠΡΟΣ, KIBRIS, CYPRUS.”

thats quite a lot of letters

Interesting, from where do you have that info? Are there pictures?

No, not yet. After all, Latvia plans to join the currency union one year later than Estonia and Lithuania. According to this article --
http://www.bank.lv/eng/main/lvnaud/latn ... .php?37226
-- production of these pieces will not start until mid-2007. So they have some more time than their neighbors.

The article also mentions the "open idea competition organised in the first half of 2004". More about that competition is here:
http://www.bank.lv/eng/main/sapinfo/lbp ... .php?41249

In other words: Yes, we know what we are going to see on the Latvian euros. No, we don't know what they will look like ... :lol:

Sad news; thanks for posting this. Just looked it up ...

"Graphic designer Miljenko Licul has died at the age of 62, the National Gallery said on Monday. Licul, who was awarded the Preseren Prize last year, designed the former Slovenian national currency, the tolar, and the Slovenian version of the euro coins." http://www.sta.si/en/vest.php?s=a&id=1373114 (The rest of the article is available for subscribers only.)

He and Maja Licul sure id a great job, on both the tolar and euro coins.
