Euro in Slovenia

Post by Mullams »

How is it with Slovenia? Which institutions will print or are printing euro bills for them? What code will they get?

edit: this topic has been posted before Dakkus answered in the other topic, so let's delete this one and discuss in the other one.

Shouldn't the other one be moved to here, then?

Actually I think that this issue is better discussed in the "Notes and Coins" board than in the "Tracking Discussion" board, so I'll reply here. We can still merge the topics later. :)

According to a new article in the Austrian newspaper Die Presse, Slovenia will at the first stage simply use the existing euro notes ("die Scheine will es sich zunächst aus dem Euroraum leihen"). Thus no "Slovenian" notes - but apart from a couple of printer code and serial number aficionados  hardly anybody will care about that, I assume.

The more interesting aspect mentioned in the article is this: "Erst nach der für 2008 geplanten, EU-weiten Modifizierung der Euroscheine wird Slowenien die Banknoten selber drucken." Which means that after the EU-wide modification of the notes planned for 2008 Slovenia will start printing euro notes ...

Source (in German):

Does anybody know any details about that "modification"? So far I have only read fairly vague information about extra security features but no details yet.

I've heard different things, no more letter in the serial number, two letters...
But let's be honest, the letters don't have so much meaning anymore, since most notes who come in circulation are pooling notes, now, and they can come from every country...

NO we cannot!
Moderators can extract messages into a new topic, but not into an existing topic. I think this has been posted somewhere, I don't find it anymore. So please do not use this one.
