countries like former yougoslavia and romania, bulgaria and albania want to become memebers of the EU. but before they are able to join the euro there is a long traject to get passed first. I don't think that is even a real discussion at this moment.

Damn right... IMHO:
Morocco: Never. (Europe? LOL.)
Russia: Never. (too big, only partly European)
Ukraine: Hardly.
Belarus: Hardly.
Turkey: Never (still, only European nations should be accepted)

Thirteen countries have been identified as candidates to join the Europan Union: ten countries from Central and Eastern Europe (Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lituania, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia), and Cyprus, Malta, and Turkey.

Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey will not join in 2004.

Croatia will introduce the € in 2023.

Has anyone been this year in Croatia?
Is there already any change related to the €? Is is perhaps possible to pay already in € and get back € notes and coins?
