Mario Draghi next ECB-president?

Post by jrnsndrs »

It is possible that Mario Draghi( :flag-it: ) will be the next ECB-president. He already had the support of France and today he got the support of Angela Merkel. Most likely he will be nominated next week.

The term of Jean-Claude Trichet ends 31 october.

Draghi was unknown before becoming governor of the Bank of Italy but, contrarily to its predecessor, it has well-directed the Bank of Italy. He was coordinated with the government and, for example, has carried out delicate inquiries on the tax dodgers based in San Marino. In sum, it's considered serious and reliable.

Umm, DSK may have had serious plans to become president, but he did not aim at being the next ECB president. :) I have no idea what happened in that New York hotel, but I find the whole story somewhat fishy.

And yes, Mario Draghi is quite likely to become Trichet's successor this fall. Would not be a bad choice from what I have read about him.

This means that we are going to see a new signature in euro notes, maybe next year :). (Anyone seen it yet?)

Have not seen Draghi's signature anywhere so far. But we have some more time since Trichet has the job until the end of October.

At this moment, Trichet is still ECB-president. He will step down in october. According to the NOS, the ministers of Finance have approved for Draghi. Next month, the Heads of government will have to do the same.
Draghi is the only candidate.

I think we shouldn't expect any Draghi-notes before october.

I looked for the signature on documents in the Bank of Italy website but I haven't found nothing.

A signature that is at least partially readable.

Could you honestly read that if you didn't know the name beforehand? :) "Mario" is possible, I guess.
