According to Isarescu although Romania is already up to date with all the parameters, the conditions in the real economy, in sustained growth but with a difference too strong between Bucharest region and other areas, required to proceed without haste. He also declared that it would be even better to set the target date of January 1, 2019 by an Act of Parliament.

Romanian Foreign Minister, Teodor Melescanu, said that all the conditions for access to the monetary union are met but the government intends to wait a few more years because it fears that there may be a negative effect on pensioners' income. According to this program, accession will take place in 2022.

It's been a while since anything was posted here, and I was just looking at the Euro Area Enlargement article on Wikipedia so:

ERM-II by 2024, euro by 2029 are the current estimates for Romania.

Edit December 9 - The country's present government believes accession will be possible in 2026, although nobody else seems to be accompanying them in this belief (namely the Romanian central bank). Nevertheless, the chart on that wikipedia entry has been edited to "euro by 2026" under "Government policy". All of these dates at this point are, of course, estimates - things will only become official after ERM access is achieved (and even then there might be unforeseen difficulties, as was the case with Bulgaria).
