I just had my first hit!
Although it happened in an unusual way. I refered some who works in my office to the site, and she started antering notes. One of the first notes she entered was one of mine. I guess she must have picked it up in our cafeteria. Is this a legitimate hit or not?

I'd say it's legitimate but I wouldn't regard it as a very interesting one...

I have one hit like that too. My girlfriend gave a note logged by me to a friend of us who is a tracker too. I asked it to be moderated but for some reason it hasn't been erased by now. :?

This note(and also some others) are given with a wrong post code. This code area is not in Turku but in Nousiainen.

It's quite common that people, who live in a small municipality, say they live in the nearest town.

What is your opinion, should these kind of cases be fixed or not :?:

Of course it matters, it effects on the travelling distance of the note whenever a hit occurs. :?

I checked the coordinates and Turku 21270 has same coordinates as Nousiainen 21270. In this kind of situation I usually enter coordinates of that smaller municipality, if it is close to the city. Of course the distance of a hit may look odd, if users get a hit in same town. (like Turku - Nousiainen 0 km) So I recommend that people use the correct municipal.

I have used the post office name. We have several post office names (postitoimipaikka) in Hattula. When I've got a note in Tyrväntö, Lepaa or Parola I've used those names. The system seems to accept them and the dot comes to a correct place on the map.

However, there are some confusing post office names. There is a village called Lusi in Hattula. There is also another, better known Lusi close to Lahti. The post code of Lusi of Hattula is something like 13999 (I'm not sure about it) and the village name is written quite often Lusi HML. HML means Hämeenlinna which is the closest town but Lusi is not in Hämeenlinna but in Hattula... 8O

Using official post office name is okay. I usually enter coordinates both for the post office name (village name) and municipal. And in Finland also for the Swedish town names.
For example:

Code: Select all

Finland Martinkylä 04150 60.3992 25.2106
Finland Mårtensby 04150 60.3992 25.2106
Finland Sibbo 04150 60.3992 25.2106
Finland Sipoo 04150 60.3992 25.2106
Speaking about similar town (village) names, they seem to be very common especially in Germany. For example Neudorf . Well when I notice this I enter coordinates for all zips I find.

I think this is not a real hit:
Armitage42 2004-03-26 19:59:42 Charleroi 06060 C'est le billet d'à Tim héhé plier sur le bord
zenman1 2004-03-25 23:12:14 Namur 5000 légèrement déchiré sur le dessus au milieu
Afstand = 32 km

Davidg entered the whole serial number in the comment field!:?:.
But that's probably a mistake, because this bill is enteres in a consecutive
series, and in the other comment fields it says 'fresh from ATM'. Could it be
fixed? Someone could create fake hits that way... :(

Nothing suspicious at first look, but can Jawa be that lucky, two notes, two hits? Especially when the other hit is with PV04 too.
The amount of their notes is a bit higher now but the notes still travel between the same two fellows:
