I asked to delete my entry for https://nl.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=121150570" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I was first to enter the note, but flv-fgsp had told me there might have been a note of his in the till of Pizza House, so in best, this was a friendly hit.

I have been around long enough to have seen conspiracy theories against Finns, French, Italians, Germans, Belgians, Dutch, Spanish etc, and believe me, I feel quite frustrated every time I hear such accusations. I believe the persons in charge do their best to moderate fairly, but moderation is indeed one of the areas where it's sometimes very difficult to please everyone, sometimes downright impossible. Please don't draw the nationality card unless you want to irritate people. There are currently some 650 000 interesting hits (and some moderated hits), so it's quite easy to find examples of hits which some people think those should have been moderated, while some other people may think otherwise of the moderation decision.

I have now moderated two of those beaweb-LITO Berlin-Rome hits, on the grounds that they were similar enough to the third one, which I left unmoderated for now.

I'd suggest asking / commenting things politely and constructively, without attacking the other person. Things will proceed much smoother when there's a friendly relationship between the persons.

Yes those hits are rather similar but they are not identical , if you look you will find dozens of similar but not identical hits that are not moderated , so if ours remain moderated we are discriminated and I believe this must not happen here on EBT , there just can't be 2 ways.
You moderated those hits 15 months after they occurred , this is a long time which should only be justified by new evidence of wrong entry , you added that the third one is left unmoderated for now , clearly saying that it could also be moderated at a later stage clearly implying there might be something sleazy here , but I know you could not find anything againt us , on the other hand you moderated those hits a few hours after slanderous comments about my co hitter and the hits was posted by a liar who used a discrediting tactic intended to make our hits suspicious and discourage any support of our cause.
So I am sure you understand that I cannot accept this hit moderation especialy after those nasty allegations were posted.

Today i noticed this moderated hit , can someone please explain why was it moderated ? and also why i never even got to see this hit ?? (only when i run NIG i noticed it; i insert bills everyday and keep very close track about my bills and hits...)

It's true that i've had a few hits with that partner (wich is expected since he lives/works near me - although i never meet him) and i hope this wasn't because of this other hit we had at aproximetly the same time because that doesn't make any sense at all to me...and also regret the fact that the Moderator didn't warn us about it (at least i wasn't warned, since my partner must have noticed the hit and then...the moderation of the same)

It was automatically moderated because you found 2 hits who travelled the exact same time & distance.
The other one is THIS ONE
In such cases, only one hit is considered interesting, the other one gets moderated automatically.
Now let's hope it turns up again in another EBT-er's hands, so it will automatically unmoderate into a triple hit.

Sorry i was editing my message...by i feel that isn't fair (at least in this case) since BOTH of them are indeed interesting hits and it can be seen by taking a look at me and my partner's history of inserting bills...and hiting with each other (and with others for what it's worth), in view of the exposed i would like that hit was Unmoderated.

It's not a case of being fair, it's more a question of: Are 2 hits that have travelled exactly the same time & distance interesting?
Keep in mind, a lot of 'our' powerusers often find dozens of such hits in a bankbundle.
Would you consider those interesting?

ok avij you win , but only because you control the situation , you are at the helm but you ought to be aware that you are not the tsar who can proclaim ukases that discriminate and frustrate users .
I know that you already explained your view , but your explanations are not so much persuasive , you posted that : "the interstingness is determined by outsider's point of view" and "what is intersting to me may not be intersting to others" , well as far as I am concerned the meaning of an interesting hit is much too vague , the only valid criterion for interest is fortuity ..ie random occurrence , and I am not sure outsiders have to judge others and encroach on their turf as long as there is no phony entry , just let faithfull users enjoy without restriction from "outsiders".
Anyway , in my case I have not seen any serious outsider complaining about those hits exept for a trio of agitated locals who went berserk when I tripple-hitted in their country and who maliciously posted that I and my hit partner were fakers, then that the location where I entered the notes was fake and eventually that my wife and my hit-partner are the same person .
You pretended to be surprised that moderators did not catch the hits when they occurred ... no , they saw the fuss that resulted from those hits and elected not to moderate.
You also said : "it has been the policy for some times now" , well , this policy definitely lacks of predictability , it is arbitrary and neither well understood nor accepted by all as there are many visible look alike hits which are never moderated ... many of those with less time difference than ours .
Your argued about your moderation policy , but I cannot believe that it is by chance that you took the decision to moderate those 2 hits after 15 months right after a liar posted that my wife and co-hitter are the same person ... no chance at all.

I have entered over 33300 notes so far , all in good faith , but for what ? I have nothing to win here , no money no prize and I am not competing against anyone , I am just doing this for the fun of it , and the fun primarily comes from having fortuitous hits with unknown persons around the continent , when I get a hit I am happy and when I got 3 hits at the same time I was very glad .
When you arbitrarily moderate hits you hide them as if there is something wrong , you remove the fun , you punish , you stigmatize , and finally demotivate... and for what ? Is not your role to stimulate users instead of demotivating them ? does EBT needs less active users ?

I can understand that we do not have the same point of view , we are all different, but your view has not convinced me and I believe that your ego will not allow you to change your mind especially after this post , so , since my self-esteem cannot accept a sanction which results at the same time from arbitrary and calumny , so I guess my involvement in EBT is in jeopardy.

maybe you had other/better reasons in your private explanations, because those you gave public on the forum don't convince me
in my eyes, those hits have all qualities to be recognized as interesting .... unless they are friendly, BUT: if they are friendly, ALL hits of that hit "bundle" should be moderated, which is not the case
if they are NOT friendly, ALL hits of that day who are not susceptble to be moderated automatically (same duration, distance, etc...) should be restored as "interesting", or ?

Please note that the automatic moderation is only a tool to reduce the workload of the moderators. Some moderators grew irritated to moderate bundles of hits, thus some automation was implemented. This is what I wrote to the moderators back in 2006 (emphasis added):

The automatic moderation system moderates the hits only if the number of days and kilometers is exactly the same (well, rounded to the closest integer), fine-tuning the remaining hits is left to the moderators.

In short, if a hit escapes the automatic moderation, it does not guarantee that the hit is interesting.

This message has the most complete summary of my moderation decision regarding the LITO-beaweb case. I'm not going to come up with more convincing arguments than those presented in that message. I'm also not going to waste any more of my time refuting the same misconceptions again and again.

you don't need to make a flash-back: I know !! I've read the whole story since the ever beginning, even before you intervention. I have too much respect of your involvment (and of all vollunteers) to dare to express an opinion about the case without knowing what has been written on the case

here is the point: 1182 km, 24 days (moderated by myself)
no apparent reason, except the angriness of some Italian users

Now, if it is considered that the hit has too much "familiarity" with the 22 days ones, there are thousands of hits to be moderated, including some of mine and maybe yours; ... and deciding to moderate only to calm down some users that don't accept the cleaning of Pincopallino can really be difficult to accept for LITO or beaweb.

I agree with you that the reaction of beaweb has been puerile , but when LITO explains his case with all the respect due to the uncomfortable duty you have accepted to accomplish, it's simply to ask: "why me and not the thousands and thousands hits that are similar?"

Finally, it's not only a case between you and LITO, but also for us, "common" users who spend hours and hours for that hobby, hoping to be treated equally.
